Town take the honours

Haverfordwest (187 for 3) beat St Ishmaels (107 all out)

Umpires: Trefor Evans & Richard Merriman
Scorers: Jayne Cole & Wendy Bradshaw

Haverfordwest stay top of the table, just ahead of champions Neyland, after comfortably beating St Ishmaels at a wind-swept Racecourse.
Division One Round-Up 10th May 2014
Ben Field (30) and Simon Holliday (66 not out) gave The Town a good start as they put on 53 for the first wicket before Field fell having stroked four fours – and then Dai Davies showed what an asset he is on his return to the club with a classic 61 (eight fours and a six) as he also made Holliday scamper between the wickets, Holliday carried his bat having hit three boundaries in an excellent score against useful bowling by Andrew Williams (2 for 34) and Jordan Milich (1 for 31)

Tish got off to a bad start as they crashed to 4 for 2 and only Jonathan Pawlett (15) managed double figures against a fiery Adam James (6 for 19), Josh Wilment (2 for 28), Holliday (1 for 3) and Clive Tucker 1 for 17. It looked all over for Tish at 79 for 9 but Phil Cockburn (30) batted really well alongside last man Kevin Bowen before they finally fell by 80 runs.

Neyland maintain winning start

Neyland (97 for 3) beat Lawrenny (96 all out)

Umpires: Dave Brandon & Denis Chiffi
Scorers: John Laugharne & Malcolm Thomas

Neyland maintained their thrust to retain the championship with another comfortable win, this time at home against a Lawrenny side currently rooted at the foot of the table.

Lawrenny could only muster 96 all out after a disappointing start against Patrick Hannon (2 for 13), Henry Durrant (3 for 24), Nick Koomen (1 for 28) and especially Nathan Banner, who grabbed 4 for 10 in 11 overs of sustained pace and accuracy. Only Andrew Cole (22), Ian Jenkins (19) and Alistair Edwards (24 not out) ever got going for Lawrenny.

Neyland captain Gregg Miller was out for the first time this season as he managed 15 runs in conjunction with Koomen (27) before Andrew Miller stroked 37 not out to steer Neyland to a seven-wicket win, despite the bowling of Brad McDermott-Jenkins (2 for 23) and Tim Mills (1 for 20).

‘Boxer’ and Cole star for Cresselly

Narberth (109 all out) lost to Cresselly (110 for 7)

Umpires: Allan Hansen & Tony Scourfield
Scorers: Peter Hughes & Dave Richards

Division One Round-Up 10th May 2014Stefan ‘Boxer’ Jenkins and Simon Cole used their experience to good effect in a low-scoring match at the Lewis Lloyd Ground as Jenkins bowled superbly for his 7 for 27 and Cole’s  undefeated 37 helped Cresselly pick up a three-wicket win over Narberth.

That the match went ahead was a tribute to the hard work of Chris Richards and his ground staff before Marc Hughes topped the home batting with his classy 35 (two fours and three big sixes) alongside Kyle Quartermaine (19) and Nathan Lloyd (16) against Jenkins, Mike Shaw (1 for 22), Lyn Richards (1 for 35) and Tom Arthur (1 for 21).

Useful bowling by Ian Hughes (2 for 32), Ben Quartermaine (2 for 12), Sean Coaker (2 for 34) and Kamal Sharma (1 for 22) kept Narberth in with a chance as Mark Shaw (26) and Nick Davies (16) made contributions before Cole eased Cresselly home by three wickets.

Seasiders hold on for a draw

Saundersfoot (121 for 5) drew with Llanrhian (146 for 7)

Umpires: Rob Bellerby & Peter Perry
Scorer: Geraint Morris (Llanrhian)

Saundersfoot managed to hang on for a draw at home to Llanrhian, who had struggled at the start but managed 146 for 7 in their allotted 38 overs before the Seasiders also found it hard going in the batting stakes.

Gareth Davies (24), Matthew Arundel (17) and Like Jones (11) helped Llanrhian to 95 for 6 in 30 overs but then Scott James (23 not out) joined Scott James in a stand of 53 in eight overs before Jones was caught and bowled from the final ball of the innings, a run short of what would have been an excellent half century.

Nick Cope (2 for 29), Sam Franklyn (1 for 27), Morgan Slate (1 for 16) and Jack Franklyn (1 for 41) were the Saundersfoot wicket-takers and Cope also chipped in with 40 alongside Paul Mansbridge (39) and Simon Wood (22) as the principal run-getters but Gareth Davies (3 for 49),  Matthew Bennett (1 for 11) and Luke Jones (1 for 20) limited their scoring opportunities as Llanrhian gained the bulk of the draw points.
