Top scorer John Summons clips a legside boundary for triumphant Johnston
Johnston go further ahead at the top of the table
Johnston (230 for 9) beat Hook (129 all out) by 101 runs
Umpires: John Williams & Glyn Pawlett
Scorers: Delyth Summons & Chris Holder
Johnston maintained their winning streak at the top of the table and marginally increased their advantage over the chasing clubs as they achieved maximum points over neighbours Hook.
Johnston batsmen Dan Sutton (28), Steve Mills (31), John Summons (39), Chris Fitzpatrick (22) and Rhys Dalling (33) all made useful contributions as Johnston sped past 200 and settled on 230 for 9.
Jamie Phelps (3 for 19), Matthew Holder (2 for 47), Andrew Thomas (2 for 40), Wayne Griffiths (1 for 17) and
Brennan Martin (1 for 39) were the Hook wicket-takers.
Tom Blaxland batted well for Hook and reached 66 (13 fours and a six) before he was last out, bowled by Chris Fitzpatrick (2 for 23), but only David Hopkins (22) ever stayed very long against Steve Mills (3 for 27), Paul Hood (1 for 32) and especially Lee Summons, who returned thebest figures of the match in his 4 for 11 haul.
Llangwm too strong for Town reserves
Haverfordwest 2nds (116 all out) lost to Llangwm (119 for 3) by seven wickets
Umpires: Robert Ridge & Dai Morris
Scorers: Natalie Thomas & Janice Brick
Llangwm returned to winning ways as this comfortable win over Haverfordwest 2nds kept them firmly in the table’s top two whilst forcing their opposition to remain rooted in the bottom two.
The Town reserves were in trouble almost from the outset against Chris Inward (3 for 21), Ollie Davies (1 for 14), Phil Llewellyn (2 for 26) and especially Richard Brock (4 for 40) as Sean Williams was the pick of the batsmen with 42 (seven boundaries).
Kieran O’Connor (13) and James Morris (20) also contributed to their modest final tally of 116 all out, which was hardly enough to trouble Llangwm’s batting line up, even without skipper Joseph Kiff, who was busy sunning himself in Portugal!
O’Connor (1 for 18), Simon Williams (1 for 29) and Chris Phillips (1 for 30) claimed wickets for The Town but Will Beresford (37) and Luke Brock (38) took Llangwm to within sight of success before Richard Brock (21 not out) completed a good personal performance alongside James Venables (15 not out) to see Llangwm home with ease.

Llechryd celebrate their first success
Llechryd (200 for 7) beat Whitland 2nds (199 for 6) by three wickets
Umpire: Steve Blowes
Scorer: Ann-Marie Jenkins (Whitland)
Llechryd marked the end of the first half of the season with their first win as they successfully chased down Whitland 2nd’s score of 199 for 6 to win with three wickets and 8.3 overs to spare.
Whitland’s total owed a great deal to Jack Bowen (nine fours and two sixes in his 65) alongside skipper Paul Webb (56, including seven fours), with support from Wayne Jones (20) and Gethin Benjamin (18 not out) against Richard Connolly (1 for 42), James Henneker (3 for 38) and John Curran (2 for 48)
Benjamin completed an excellent personal performance for Whitland with 4 for 42 as Paul Webb (2 for 33) and his son Matthew (1 for 41) supported Benjamin but John Curran (64, including seven fours) and Gwion Howell (42) shared a partnership of 100.
Josh Townsend (22) and Steve Smith (18) produced minor cameos in Llechryd’s cause – and a first victory was the end product.
Cresselly clinch Treleet success
Pembroke (226 for 5) lost to Cresselly 2nds (227 for 7) by three wickets
Scorer: Des Brace
There were runs galore at Pembroke’s Treleet Ground before they lost to Cresselly Seconds, who successfully chased down 227 for victory after a late scare or three.
The game seemed over as Cresselly strolled to within three runs of their target but lost three wickets on the same score before nudging their way over the finishing line.
Barry Evans and Rob Weston gave Pembroke a superb start in a huge first wicket partnership of 186 before Evans finally lost concentration and was out for 61 (eight fours).
There was no stopping Weston, however, as he ended up on 106 before he was caught by keeper Nick Jones off Tom Arthur’s bowling, with 22 boundaries to his name as Arthur (2 for 63), skipper Matthew Lewis (2 for 47) and Nick Davies (1 for 47) were the successful Cresselly 2nds’ bowlers.
Cresselly’s chase owed much to solid knocks by Neale Williams (48), Rhydian Rees (19), Scott Arthur (46) and Alex Bailey (38), with a classy 63 (eight fours and two sixes) from Nick Davies as the clinching factor.
Rob Weston - century in defeat for Pembroke
Burton’s ‘Young Guns’ shine with the bat
Burton (216 for 3) drew with Carew 2nds (181 for 7)
Umpire: Rob Bellerby
Burton’s talented teenage opening batsmen Toby Hayman and Jack Davies really put Carew Seconds’ bowling attack to the sword as they shared in a terrific stand of 172 runs before Hayman was caught by Carew skipper Robbie Hicks just six runs short of what would have been a deserved century.
Hayman had scored 79 not out the evening before in the Ormond Youth Cup and his innings was liberally sprinkled with boundaries as he punished the loose deliveries and ran well between the wickets with Davies, whose undefeated 71 showed what an asset he also is to the club.
For Carew, Robbie Hicks (23), Chris Cole (28), Dafydd Bevan (15) and Adam Hughes (25) supported Luke Hicks, who was the mainstay of the Carew innings with an excellent 51 (five fours and two sixes).
But they were never looking favourites to win as Welsh over 50s international Steve Jones continues to successfully trundle his wares and took 2 for 15 alongside Joe Dixon (2 for 45) and Jack Davies (1 for 18) as the game eventually petered out into a draw.
