Scorers: Julie Davies & Janice Webb

Carew showed their true class after some disappointing results in league and cups as they slammed Whitland by 151 runs to pick up maximum bonus points.

Leading the way for Carew in the batting stakes were Nick Scourfield (74) and Tom Davies (53) who shared in a second-wicket partnership of 93 before Simon Wood showed what an asset he is with 43 not out in conjunction with Tim Hicks (18), Brian Hall (17) and Rhys Davies (11 not out). They helped the home side to a very big total as

Dan James (2 for 46), Mark Lee (1 for 51) and Raff Williams (1 for 46) were the Whitland wicket-takers.
Owain Evans topped the Whitland batting chart with 38 runs as Paul Davies (19) and Dan James (12 not out) were the only other batsmen to manage double figures against fast bowler Ian Forrester (5 for 26), a new recruit from the army camp at Manorbier, and Wood, who completed a man of the match performance with 4 for 22 in support.

Neyland took another giant step towards retaining their league title as they not only beat Lawrenny but defied the weather in doing so to pick up maximum points as Nick Koomen and Ashley Sutton were able to celebrate unbeaten centuries in the process.

Both scored 107 not out after Sean Hannon (13) had been shifted early by Jamie Lewis, with Koomen stroking 11 boundaries whilst Sutton continued his recent superb form with five fours and five sixes.
They also ran well between the wickets in an undefeated stand of 218 runs, with 48 of those coming in the last five overs as Neyland piled on the pressure.

Lawrenny needed big runs from one of their experienced batsmen but only Andrew Cole (22), Alistair Edwards (27), Patrick Elliott (22) and Matt Lewis (17 not out) managed double figures against Nathan Banner (1 for 37), Gary Lloyd (1 for 35) and Nick Koomen (2 for 13) before Andrew Miller (2 for 27) and Henry Durrant (3 for 9 in only five overs) finally saw Neyland home.

Llanrhian win at a canter

Llanrhian (96 for 3) beat Saundersfoot (92 all out) by 7 wickets

Steve Blowes & Tony Waldeis

Division One Reports 12th July 2014Llanrhian maintained their good form with a comfortable win over basement strugglers Saundersfoot, who were unable to field a full team and paid the inevitable price.

They were shot out for only 92 at Llandigige Fawr as Jack Jones spear-headed the home attack with 5 for 21 alongside Matthew Bennett (1 for 41), Luke Jones 1 for 10) and the evergreen Tony Kitchell (1 for 7) so that only Steve Cook (20), Jack Franklyn (16) and Jamie Morgan (17) ever stayed long for the Seasiders.

Geraint Morris (17) and Paul Lewis (15) helped Llanrhian to 55 for 3 before Jack Jones completed a good all-round performance with 28 not out (four boundaries) in an unbroken stand of 43 with Richard Reed, who belted a big six in his unbeaten 20 so that although Jack Franklyn (2 for 34) and Neil Powling (1 for 24) bowled quite well for Saundersfoot it was Llanrhian who strolled home to an early victory.

Town openers win in a hurry

St Ishmaels (134 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (136 for 0) by 10 wickets

Division One Reports 12th July 2014

Haverfordwest opening batsmen Adam James and Simon Holliday were clearly conscious of rain approaching as they chased down St Ishmaels’ tally of 134 all out in only 12.5 overs as they won by ten wickets.

Tish had been asked to bat first and managed their score in 39.2 overs against the varied Haverfordwest bowling attack in which pave men Adam James and Josh Wilment finished with respective figures of 1 for 34 and 2 for 37 before ‘spin twins Ajay Revu (1 for 21) and Holliday (5 for 13) caused real problems, especially for the lower order batsmen.

Phil Cockburn topped the Tish batting with 50 (eight fours and a six) but only Andrew Williams (42) and Peter Bradshaw (21) ever stayed long in support.

Then Adam James was moved up the order to exert his own brand of batting mayhem alongside Holliday as they sped to 50 in the fourth over, with James only escape coming when he was caught off a no ball because Tish only had three men in the fielding circle, and made Tish pay in full!.

James finished up with seven fours and four big sixes in his 67 not out, with his 50 coming off only 25 deliveries, whilst Holliday was only marginally slower as he finished up on 60 not out, including ten fours and six to give his side an easy finish.

Rain brings about a halt at an interesting time

Cresselly (259 for 4) v Narberth (59 for 1) – match abandoned

Umpires: Richard Merriman & Rob Cousins
Scorers: Peter Hughes (Narberth)

The match between Cresselly and Narberth was abandoned at an interesting time because the home side had amassed a huge 259 for 4 but Narberth were about to give chase when persistent rain intervened.

Cresselly skipper Phil Williams rapped nine fours in his 77 whilst Brad Jenkins hit 15 boundaries in his 90 runs as they shared a second-wicket partnership of 153, with Simon Cole’s 42 helping his side to a challenging tally.

Ritchie Adams (34 not out) and Marc Hughes (21) gave Narberth a start in reply but then the wet weather swept in and caused the game to be abandoned.
