Haverfordwest (117 all out) lost to Neyland (119 for 3) by seven wickets

Neyland showed just why they are Pembrokeshire champions for a second successive season as they travelled to The Racecourse without four regulars but still had more than enough fire-power to beat runners-up Haverfordwest by seven wickets.

Neyland skipper Sean Hannon won the toss and asked The Town to bat first and tight bowling, allied to very good fielding, saw the home side shot out for a disappointing 177 runs in 38.2 overs.

Simon Holliday, who needed 48 runs for a season’s 1,000 runs, scored 33 from 100 deliveries and had a measure of support from Kashif Ijaz (22) and Ben Field (23) as the rest of the batting found it hard going against Henry Durrant (2 for 22), Nathan Banner 1-28 and Gary Lloyd (2 for 17) alongside talented teenagers Scott Jones (2 for 14) and Tom Pritchard (2 for 32).

It was never likely to be enough to unsettle Neyland as Ashley Sutton reached the 21 runs he needed to reach 1,000 runs for the campaign and went to score 38 runs alongside Sean Hannon (15) before Banner completed a wonderful all-round season with a powerful 50 that included eight fours and a six against Adam James (1-26), Josh Wilment (1-20) and Kashif Ijaz (1-18), helping his team to victory in only 26.4 overs.

Llanrhian win in Llandigige run-fest

Llanrhian (242 for 7) best Lawrenny (222 all out) by 20 runs

Umpires: Arthur Brady & Les Hastings
Scorers: Rob Morris & Malcolm Thomas

Division One Reports 30th August 2014There were runs aplenty at Llandigige Fawr before Llanrhian marked an excellent first season back in the top echelon with an entertaining 20-run win over Lawrenny.

Jack Jones maintained his good form with the bat as he struck seven fours and a six in his top score of 85 for Llanrhian (including seven fours and a six), sharing a third-wicket stand of 117 with skipper Geraint Morris, whose well-crafted 63 included five fours and a big six. Paul Lewis (36) and Ben Jones (20 not out) were the other main contributors for the homesters as Rob Williams (2 for 37), Jamie Lewis (3 for 54), Alistair Edwards (1 for 51) and Steve Lewis (1 for 40) were the Lawrenny wicket takers.

Steve Lewis also led the Lawrenny batting as he plundered nine fours and five sixes in his sparkling 80 but got himself out when a century seemed on the cards. Johnny Mathias (46 (six fours and two sixes), James Buckle (26) and Andrew Cole (16) also made useful contributions but they lost late wickets to a bowling attack comprising Matthew Bennett (3 for 46), Luke Jones (2 for 46), Gareth Davies (1 for 35), Dominic Wright (1 for 41) and Jack Jones (3 for 52) to fall short of a very big target.

Scorers: Peter Hughes & Julie Davies

Carew finished off their season on a winning note as they comfortably accounted for a weakened Narberth side that had already been relegated and must now regroup in division two.

Only Ben Quartermaine (14) and Ben Hughes (11) managed double figures as Narberth limped to 58 all out, with Ian Forrester (3 for 24) and Martin Scourfield (2 for 0) doing the major damage, supported by Rhys Davies (1 for 9) and James Hinchliffe (1 for 7), as keeper Tom Scourfield chipped in with 1 for 5 and opening bat Nick Scourfield enjoyed a rare shift with the ball as he claimed 1 for 2.

Tom Scourfield also led the Carew batting with 30 and Simon Wood contributed 14 against Mike Williams (1 for 10), Ben Quartermaine (1 for 11) and Marc Hughes (1 for 17) before Ian Forrester took them home with 11 not out.

Cresselly win at a canter

Saundersfoot (61 all out) lost to Cresselly (65 for 4) by six wickets

Umpires: Allan Hansen & Richard Merriman
Scorers: Adge John & Dave Richards

Saundersfoot dropped in to Division Two without troubling Cresselly overmuch, other than a three-wicket haul from Neil Powling.

Only skipper Paul Mansbridge (27) and his young teenage son Tom (9) ever looked comfortable against Tom Murphy (2 for 11), Mike Shaw (2 for 2), Iwan Izzard (2 for 4), Harry Thomas (1 for 10) and Simon Cole (1 for 4) as the Seasiders were shot out quickly.

Tom Mansbridge (1 for 14) and Powling (3 for 35) took wickets for Saundersfoot but S Jenkins (27) and Matthew Morgan (10) helped to make sure that Cresselly reached their target in fewer than nine overs – and an early tea was enjoyed by all!

Whitland win a low-scoring nail-biter

St Ishmaels (109 all out) lost to Whitland (113 all out) by four runs

Division One Reports 30th August 2014Umpires: Steve Blowes & Tony Waldeis

Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw & Janice Webb

There was a nail-biting finish in the match between St Ishmaels and Whitland as the latter could only muster 113 runs before clawing their way back into contention as Tish conspired to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in losing by four runs.

Dylan Blain led the Whitland batting with seven boundaries in his 35 as he made Tish regret an earlier dropped catch, with Adam Davies (19) and Matthew Webb (17) providing support against Andrew Palmer (2 for 21), Danny Flynn (3 for 31), Matthew Phillips (1 for 14) and Andrew Pawlett (4 for 14).

Tish looked hot favourites at tea but only Dan Howells (22) and Brennan Devonald (24) looked comfortable against Dan James (4 for 44), Matthew Webb (2 for 37) and Iestyn Scourfield (1 for 7)

But Andrew Pawlett, whose left arm slow stuff had helped Tish earlier on, marched to the crease at No 10 and hit 26 to take his side within a single score of success, only to be bowled by the experienced Mark Lee as part of a canny 3 for 17 haul – and Whitland edged through to success!
