Haverfordwest ‘A’ stand proudly at the top of the 2015 indoor league cricket table as easy wins against Pembroke Dock and Cresselly be respectively huge margins of 77 runs and 95 runs saw them with a played 4, won 4, record.
In the opening fixture of the afternoon it was the Dock who beat Cresselly comfortably in a game where the number of extras was a cause for much discussion!

Match One: Cresselly (66 all out) lost to Pembroke Dock (69 for 1)

Haverfordwest ‘A’ go top with two easy wins
Pembroke Dock started their indoor season with an easy win over a Cresselly which has some useful players but failed to play to its potential – and the match was typified by the huge number of 51 extras conceded out of a total of only 135 runs scored in the entire match.
Put in to bat, Cresselly had double figures from Johnny Palmer (10) and Brad McDermott-Jenkins (12) alongside their 21 extras in a score of 66 all out as the Dock’s Craig Butland’s control of pace and length earned him deserved figures of 3 for 9.
Luke Murray departed early when the Dock batted but Scott Griffiths and John Camani ran well between the wickets for 17 not out apiece as the extras tally eventually soared to 30, with 29 of them wides!

Match Two: Haverfordwest ‘A’ (145 for 4) beat Pembroke Dock (68 all out)

Haverfordwest showed the other teams how to pace an indoor innings as they scored a huge 145 for 4 in their allotted ten overs despite having Huw Scriven run out for 13 early on.
But Nigel Delaney (27) and Simon Holliday added 61 runs in double-quick time before both retired.
Danny Potter was run out like a dog for 23 and AJ Revu made amends with 29 runs before Holliday returned and belted three fours and two sixes in his 38 before he was superbly caught by Camani as he attempted another straight six off the final ball of their innings.
It was always likely to be too big a challenge for The Dock once they had lost Murray and Camani but Scott Griffiths batted really well for his top score of 25 before he fell to Nigel Delaney.
But once he departed there was panic in the batting as Revu grabbed 2 for 9, occasional bowler Ben Field supported with 2 for 14 and  The Town strolled to victory in only 8.2 overs.

Match Three: Haverfordwest ‘A’ (145 for 4) beat Cresselly (47 all out)

Haverfordwest ‘A’ batted first again against Cresselly and again totalled 145 for 4 as Johnny Palmer claimed 2 for 19 for his all-action approach.
Ben Field departed for a single, unluckily run out, and Potter (9) departed to an lbw decision but the ‘Doctoring Duo’ of Revu and Holliday set The Town on the way to another huge score as both reached 25 before retiring.
Huw Scriven hit 16 from only six balls and Nigel Delaney confirmed his reputation as one of the best indoor cricketers in the county with another 31 not out that contained nine threes and a four in only 11 balls faced.
Revu returned to reach 30 but Holliday was the destructive force with 50 not out that contained 11 threes and two straight sixes that took any chance away from Cresselly’s inconsistent batting line-up.
And that is exactly what happened as Johnny Palmer thrashed about for 11 alongside Brad McDermott-Jenkins whilst Harry Thomas top-scored with 17 but then AJ Revu caused chaos with three wickets in an over, two to excellent stand-up catches by keeper Scriven.
Revu has played little indoor cricket but again he showed his worth with innings of 30 and 29 not out, plus combined figures of 5 for 13 in his four overs bowled, whilst Delaney supported well to maintain his reputation, coined by team-mate Huw Scriven, as the ‘Best Indoor All-Rounder in the World’!
