Indoor Cricket Week Six:

Venue: The Meads Leisure Centre, Milford Haven
Umpire: John Sheppard
Scorer: Nicola Murray (Pembroke Dock)

Pembroke Dock continued their run of good form in the Pembrokeshire Indoor Cricket League as they accounted for Neyland ‘B’ - but both teams were left disappointed by the fact that Whitland, a force in this form of cricket over many years, were unable to raise a team, but at least gave 24 hours notice.

With regular umpire Allan Hansen away officiating with Neyland ‘A’,  the match was well umpired by John Sheppard, who with his wife Janet are the best supporters of indoor cricket in the county, with Nicola Murray of Pembroke Dock doing her usual excellent job of scoring.

Put in to bat first, Neyland ‘B’ had Paul Murray looking back to something like his best form as he retired on 25 but returned at the end of the innings where he was eventually well caught by Jamie White off Glyn Griffiths for a hard-hitting 31.

Griffiths, very much the senior player in the Dock side and playing alongside his son Scott, is normally the wicket-keeper but showed his all-round skills honed many years ago with his father Eric at St Ishmaels, as he also shifted Neyland’s other top scorer Phil Keen for 28, again with White taking the catch.

Neyland lost wickets at vital times and although their final tally was boosted by 23 extras they were dismissed for 104 in only 8.3 overs as Luke Murray also claimed a wicket.

Scott Griffiths and Luke Murray then got the Dock off to a flying start as they each scored 25 before retiring and they found excellent support from Keen (28) who retired with a boundary.

They also lost Glyn Griffiths, probably still worn out by his bowling stint and Declan Scourfield cheaply but Murray returned to the crease as the Dock drew level thanks to having 22 extras, and finished things off in style with a six hit, with an over to spare!
