Indoor Cricket Week Seven:

Venue: The Meads Leisure Centre, Milford Haven
Umpires: Allan Hansen and Ray Kane
Scorers: Kirsty Hannon and Tom Pritchard (both Neyland)

St Ishmaels clearly enjoy their indoor cricket and key player Jonathan Pawlett gives a chance to their youngsters – but it can cost them any chance of victory against good sides like Neyland ‘A’ and ‘B’, plus Haverfordwest ‘A’ if he personally bats last and has a limited chance to influence matches alongside other senior players like Andrew Pawlett, Dan Howells and Kevin A Bowen.

And that is exactly how things turned out as they had three matches on the trot in this recent round of fixtures – and lost them all.

Match One - St Ishmaels v Neyland B:

Tish take a tumble, three times over!
Tish got off to a solid start via Dan Howells and Kevin A Bowen, who eventually retired on 25 but towards the end of the innings returned to finish on 33 not out. Howells reached 13 before he gave a return catch to Nathan Sutton and it was left to Jonathan Pawlett (20 not out) to join forces in a late search for runs that gave Tish a final tally of 80 for 4 as Sutton was the pick of the Neyland bowlers alongside Luke Ryan and Scott Jones.

Tish struggled early on against James Hall and Jonathan Pawlett but Tish couldn’t shift Paul Murray, now looking back to something like his best form as he eventually finished the match off with a boundary-laden 33 not out and had good support from Phil Keen (23 not out) as Neyland ‘B’ claimed their third win in six matches.

Match Two - St Ishmaels v Neyland A:

Tish take a tumble, three times over!
Tish batted first again against Neyland ‘A’, making a good start through Dan Howells until he was run out for 17, Jonathan Pawlett (34) and Kevin A Bowen (18) until Gregg Miller showed he is still a major force in this form of cricket as he shifted Pawlett and Bowen as part of a 3 for 14 haul.

Again Tish were unable to score enough runs as they were dismissed for 84 and it took Neyland only 6.4 overs to reach their target without losing a wicket.

Ashley Sutton (28) and Nick Koomen (27) both had to retire, the former still to get out this campaign, and it was left to Gregg Miller (17) and Patrick Bellerby (7) to be not out at the finish to keep their side in contention at the top of the table.

Match Three – St Ishmaels v Haverfordwest ‘A’

Tish take a tumble, three times over!
Haverfordwest ‘A’ maintained their 100% start to the campaign with an easy win over St Ishmaels, who were shot out for 50 as classy batsman Ben Field showed a can also bowl a bit by claiming unlikely figures of 3 for 7!

‘Spin twin doctors’ AJ Revu and Simon Holliday also claimed a wicket each as Jonathan Pawlett (18) and Kevin A Bowen (16) ever looked settled.
Pawlett then dismissed Huw Scriven and AJ Revu, who gave James Hall his first ever catch in competitive cricket, the Milford Haven rugby team manager clearly delighted by his success!

‘Mr Reliable’ Nigel Delaney and Town skipper Danny Potter were there at the finish however, which came after only four of their allotted ten overs so both teams could get home in time to watch Joe Allen’s Liverpool beat Southampton!
