Section leaders Narberth showed that their previous-match defeat by Whitland Seconds was a blip as they travelled to third-placed Kilgetty and produced a powerful all-round tem display that earned them a resounding victory by 102 runs.

Talented opening bat Ritch Adams got them off to a good start with eight fours in his 75 runs, assisted by Jordan Howell (30), skipper Ben Quartermaine (31), Ben Hughes and especially by a swashbuckling knock from Kyle Quartermaine, whose 88 runs included nine fours and three big sixes.

Toby Poole led the home bowling with 4 for 58 alongside Kyle Marsh (1 for 41), Jack Parkinson (1 for 59) and Andrew Evans (1 for 34) but Narberth ended up on a mammoth 262 for 7 runs.

Poole also top scored with 55 runs (eight fours and a six) and found support from Peter Hall and Tom Lewis (15 apiece), Kyle Marsh (23) and Alistair Evans but good bowling by Jordan Howell (5 for 35) pinned them back well and Ben Quartermaine supported with 4 for 37 and brother Kyle completed another good day with 1 for 18.

Pembroke hold on for deserved draw

Haverfordwest (220 for 8) drew with Pembroke (192 for 8)

Umpires: Rob Cousins & Martin Jones
Scorer: Natalie Thomas

There were plenty of runs scored on The Racecourse as Haverfordwest Seconds recovered from a mid-innings crisis to record a useful score and Pembroke gave chase before settling for the draw when they lost late wickets.
Haverfordwest certainly enjoyed a roller-coaster innings as openers Sion Williams (27) and Dan Cole (27) eased them to 50 for no loss in the 12th over but they suddenly collapsed to 56 for 6 against Billy Wood (3 for 39) and Jack Harries (3 for 39).

But then Avron Roulstone belted three huge sixes in his belligerent 41 to start the pendulum swinging back in The Town’s favour before Chris Phillips followed his 94 the previous match with an excellent 52 not out here, helped by Simon Williams (36 not out) in an unbroken 60 stand that steered their team to 220 for 8 as Jonathan Rogers also picked up 2 for 63.

Pembroke skipper Paul White maintained his recent run of form with top score of 57 and other useful contributors were Phil Hay (31), Jack Harries (19), Luke Butler (14) and Wood, who finished on 34 not out.

James Morris (2 for 55), Avron Roulstone (2 for 20), Nigel Morgan (1 for 37), Simon Williams (1 for 37) and Chris Phillips (2 for 33) all claimed wickets for Haverfordwest but Pembroke held on well to pick up welcome draw points.

Scott steers Cresselly Seconds to huge win

Hook (89 all out) lost to Cresselly 2nds (254 for 8) by 165 runs

Cresselly Seconds showed just why they are second in the Division Two table with this crushing win at Hook where Scott Arthur and Nick Davies set the tone with a boundary laden partnership 130 runs, both reaching their 50s at about the same time and having run only five singles!

Davies eventually departed for 76 (11 fours and three sixes), whilst Arthur motored past three figures with 17 fours and two sixes to his name before Alex bailey (16) and Tom Arthur (17) added a few more as only two Hook bowlers were successful, with Brennan Martin claiming 4 for 49 and Jamie Phelps grabbing 4 for 47.

But Hook struggled after tea with the bat as only Phelps (14) and Matthew John (20) managed double figures against Tom Arthur (2 for 17), Matthew Webb (2 for 21), Ollie Richards (3 for 15) and Matthew Lewis (2 for 31) and the home faithful were left scratching their heads about when Hook previously lost at home by such a big margin.

Burton bounce back to winning ways

Burton (123 for 2) beat Saundersfoot (122 all out) by 8 wickets

Umpires: Arthur Brady & Kieran O’Connor
Scorers: Mark Venables & Adge John

Division Two Cricket Reports 4th July 2015 - sponsored by Nicholas InsuranceBurton ended a run of three successive defeats with a convincing home win over Saundersfoot where they bowled out the Seasiders for 122 and then lost only two wickets in reaching a less than challenging target.

Old timers Phil Jones (48) and Steve Cook (27) were the main contributors to the Saundersfoot score, along with 33 extras, against the bowling of Burton vets Steve Jones (3 for 18) and Johnny Scale (1 for 11), ably assisted by skipper Morgan Scale (1 for 28) and youngsters George Williams (3 for 17) and Luke Hayman (2 for 25).

Then teenagers James Davies and Toby Hayman shared an opening stand of 94 for the home side before Hayman (46, including nine boundaries)) was removed by Sam Franklin, who also shifted Luke Hayman for six runs in his 2 for 24 analysis.

James Davies, who is only 15, went on to score an impressive 53 not out (seven fours) and Burton were delighted to bounce off the foot of the table.

Cam slam at bewildered Whitland

Whitland 2nds (213 for 6) lost to Camrose (214 for 0) by 10 wickets

Umpires: Allan Hansen & Neil Croucher
Scorer: Ann-Marie Phillips

Division Two Cricket Reports 4th July 2015 - sponsored by Nicholas InsuranceIf there had been a slight look of bemusement on the faces of the Whitland Seconds’ team at the end of their game against Camrose then few could blame them because the visitors picked up their third win on the trot by chasing down a massive target of 214 for victory in only 26 overs without losing a single wicket!

The principal architect of such batting bravado was Jonathan Venables, whose mighty 145 not out contained no fewer than 25 boundaries, ably assisted by the more taciturn Dan Wilks with an unbeaten 59 that contained only four boundaries but was the perfect supporting role in the circumstances.

Whitland had built what they reasonably thought was a challenging target as Paul Webb batted throughout their innings for an excellent 97 not out that included 10 boundaries, with Iestyn Scourfield popping up for a brisk 42 alongside Martin Thomas (23) and Hefin Thomas (23) against Danny Morgan (3 for 21) and Venables (2 for 63) as the pick of the Camrose bowlers.

But then came that assault by Venables and to a lesser degree Wilks, who enjoyed plenty of open spaces since Whitland had to field with only nine men.
