Toby and Morgan make Burton tick

Burton (202 for 6) beat Haverfordwest 2nds (84 all out) by 118 runs

Umpire: Rob Bellerby
Scorers: Mark Venables & Ros Phillips

Burton’s hopes of remaining in Division Two received a significant boost as they deservedly garnered maximum points against a Haverfordwest 2nds’ outfit that might have just had their on the Alec Colley Cup Final the following day and were shout out for a disappointing 84 runs in response to the challenging Burton tally of 202 for 6.

Leading the way in the batting stakes was again talented young Toby Hayman, who stroked seven fours and four sixes in his top score of 89 before he was bowled by James Morris, making runs alongside Morgan Scale (35 in 21 deliveries), Jack Davies (28) and Luke Hayman (21).

Town skipper Morris led his attack with 4 for 47, assisted by Nigel Morgan (1 for 29) and Ashley James (1 for 62) but it was rival captain Morgan Scale who rounded off an excellent personal performance with 5 for 14. Other wickets were claimed by youngsters James Davies (1 for 36) and George Williams (2 for 29) as ‘old timer’ Johnnie Scale also chipped in with 2 for 4 as The Town Seconds were shot out for 84, despite cameos from Charlie Clinton (24), Sean Williams (21), Nigel Morgan 912) and Dan Cole (11)

Narberth sit on the brink of section silverware

Saundersfoot (147 all out) lost to Narberth (194 for 6) by 47 runs

Umpires: Les Hastings & Mervyn John
Scorers: Adge John & Emma Richards
Ritchie Adams - undefeated half century for Narberth
Narberth are now within touching distance of a speedy return to the top echelon after their latest victory at Saundersfoot, who battled hard but in the final analysis couldn’t chase down the section leaders’ sizeable score.
Ritchie Adams was again the cornerstone of the Narberth innings with his excellent 72 that included 13 fours and a six before he was shifted by Josh Samuel (1 for 33), who bowled well along with John Mansbridge (3 for 34).

But Adams had great support from all-rounder Ben Hughes, whose 55 contained seven boundaries) and Kamal Sharma (30 not out) as the league leaders looked to build a sizeable score with a late burst of runs.

James Caine batted well for the Seasiders with three fours and three sixes in his 53 alongside Sam Franklyn (22), and Paul Mansbridge (16) but Hughes (3 for 36) completed a good day’s work alongside Jordan Howell (2 for 44) and his dad Richard (1 for 8), plus skipper Ben Quartermaine (2 for 29) and Sharma (1 for 11) as Narberth get ready to uncork the champagne corks pretty soon now!

Evans battles pain to see Pembroke to victory

Whitland 2nds (144 all out) lost to Pembroke (146 for 3) by 7 wickets

Umpires: Rob Elliott & Tony Waldeis
Scorers: Ann-Marie Jenkins

Division Two Reports 15th August 2015Barry Evans helped Pembroke to victory at Whitland despite ‘pulling a muscle of some sort’ early in his innings but defying the pain to complete a deserved half century which saw his team home.

Whitland were eager to do well prior to their Alec Colley Cup appearance the next day but also to keep their safe distance from the threat of relegation, whilst Pembroke have progressed up the table by dint of a string of good results – and must have been pleased to restrict Whitland to 100 for 8 in 34 overs before a late come-back by the Whitland tail saw them reach a healthier-looking 144 all out thanks to Scott Newton (40), Connor Bowen (19), James Thomas (19), Che Thomas (15) and Matthew Davies (15).

Billy Wood continued his good form of late as he spear-headed the Pembroke attack, taking 4 for 16 and finding support from Jack Harries (2 for 33), Andrew Hay (2 for 30), Lewis Wilks (1 for 28) and Sam Davies (1 for 23).
Then Evans dropped anchor successfully with the aid of a runner and found solid support from Phil Hay (49) and skipper Paul White (22) so that Pembroke were able to reach their target in 41.4 overs, despite the bowling efforts of Paul Webb (1 for 37) and Geraint Phillips (1 for 40).

Kilgetty claim victory in tense finale

Hook (130 all out) lost to Kilgetty (140 for 9)

Umpires: Glyn Pawlett & Neil Croucher
Scorers: Hazel Poole & Joy James

There was a tense finale at Hook as the home side tried to chase down Kilgetty’s score of 140 for 9 but good bowling by Grant Hardy helped the visitors take the verdict by just ten runs.

Peter Hall again showed that being a pensioner is no restriction to keeping your batting going as ‘Horlicks’ top scored for Kilgetty with 41 runs (five boundaries) and was helped by Ross Hardy (33), Ian Poole (26) and Kyle Marsh (19 not out) in taking their side to 140 all out as the main Hook bowlers were Brennan Martin (2 for 34), Andrew Thomas (1 for 16), Tom Blaxland (3 for 32) and Jamie Phelps (2 for 28)

Kilgetty were in with a real chance whilst Tom Blaxland was at the crease but he departed for 41 (eight boundaries) there were double figures for Jake Wicks, Harry Morris and Will Goronwy but Grant Hardy’s 5 for 21 haul was crucial alongside Ross Hardy (1 for 23), Kyle Marsh (1 for 27) and Anthony Bevan (2 for 31) in sealing Kilgetty’s success.
