Neyland won the Jubilee Cup for 2015 as the Harrison-Allen Bowl winners comfortably accounted for league champions Haverfordwest in a low key match played over 30 overs per team.
Both teams were short of key players and Neyland were assisted by Lyn Rees, playing his first big match for them since 1984, whilst Haverfordwest had to call on several second or third team regulars, but the game was still played in a competitive manner and in the final analysis Neyland won because they had two batsmen making undefeated half centuries whilst none of the Haverfordwest main run gatherers managed to get out of the 20s when they looked well set.
Town lose too many wickets at key times
Batting first, The Town got off to a decent start through Adam James (11) and Charlie Clinton (27) in a stand of 43 but then Nick Koomen entered the fray and removed both of them in the space of only seven runs.
For Neyland, there were two wickets apiece for Koomen, Andrew Miller and Geraint Rees, whilst Scott Jones bowled better than his 1 for 24 analysis from six overs would suggest.
Solid batting sees Neyland succeed
Koomen got Neyland off to a bright start with a quick-fire 25 before he was well-caught by Delaney off James Morris whilst Adam James looked sharp for Haverfordwest as he clean bowled Henry Durrant and Ashley Sutton in quick succession.
But at 57 for 3 Andrew Miller was joined by Scott Jones and this pair batted sensibly, built the tempo and both were still there at the finish as Neyland won with seven wickets and eight balls to spare.
Miller had two fours and two sixes on his undefeated 51 and Jones had four fours and a six en route to his 50 not out before Neyland's stand-in skipper Sean Hannon received the Jubilee Cup from Tony Scourfield, the chairman of the Pembroke County Cricket Club.
