Chandler helps Cresselly clinch local derby clash

Carew (184 all out) lost to Cresselly (206 for 5) by 22 runs

Umpires: Arthur Brady & Dai Morris
Scorers: Julie Davies & Tegan Cartwright

Division One Reports 14th May 2016 Another excellent undefeated innings by Adam Chandler against his former team mates from Carew helped Cresselly clinch a 22 run verdict over their near neighbours, assisted by some useful cameos from veteran all-rounder Ryan Lewis and Iwan Izzard (41) and bowlers Bobby Webb and Sam Harts.

Chandler, who averaged over 100 in all competitions last season, had ten fours and a six in his 88 not out, sharing a vital stand late on with Lewis (38 not out) after Mike Shaw and Phil Williams had also managed double figures.

For Carew, wickets were claimed by Neil Gregory (1 for 23), Tom Davies (2 for 33) and Ceri Brace (1 for 21) before Ian Sefton looked like taking them to victory with a cracking 87 runs that included nine fours and four sixes before he was caught by Williams off Harts, who finished with 3 for 52 alongside Webb (2 for 26), Simon Cole (1 for 23), Mike Shaw (1 for 23) and the inestimable Lewis (2 for 43).

Skipper Rhys Davies chipped in for Carew until he was run out for 23, with Brian Hall (17), Tom Scourfield (19) and Sean Whitfield (14) all getting some runs but not quite enough to seal a Carew success as Carew travelled back ‘up the hill’ with the villages’ bragging rights!

Town make it four wins in a row

Haverfordwest (157 for 3) beat Narberth (156 for 9) by 7 wickets

Umpires: Rob Bellerby & Richard Merriman
Scorers: Jayne Cole & Emma Richards

Haverfordwest maintained their 100% start to the 2016 campaign as they outbatted Narberth on The Racecourse to secure victory by seven wickets, well led by skipper Danny Potter, who won the toss and asked the opposition to bat – and after tea stroked his way to an undefeated 63 to see his side home.

Adam James (3 for 36) and pace partner Josh Wilment (4 for 37) helped reduce Narberth to 75 for 6 but then Jordan Howell showed his mettle with a classy 74 (12 boundaries) and found support from Ben Hughes (30) and Owen Richards (16). Off-spinner Clive Tucker also picked up 2 for 27 but Narberth could feel pleased at the tea interval that they had at least set The Town a challenging total.

Ben Field looked in good nick for Haverfordwest after Adam Raymond had departed early but he was dismissed for 31 and was joined back in the pavilion by Dai Davies (23) as there was a wicket each for Ben Hughes, Ben and Kyle Quartermaine.

But Nigel Delaney supported his captain with a useful 18 not out and Potter stroked nine fours and a six en route to his team’s victory with overs and wickets in hand.

Whitland win with ease

Whitland (93 for 2) beat Llanrhian (92 all out) by 8 wickets

Umpires: John Williams & Neil Croucher
Scorer: Ann-Marie Jenkins (Whitland)

Division One Reports 14th May 2016 Llanrhian struggled with the bat against a useful Whitland bowling attack in which Matthew Lewis’s clever slow stuff earned him a five-wicket haul and set up the chance for his side to ease through  to an easy win.

Lewis, who joined Whitland from Cresselly this season made an impact with his 5 for 31 analysis alongside Iestyn Scourfield (3 for 18) and Connor Bowen (2 for 16) as Llanrhian limped to only 92 in the 38th over thanks to Paul Lewis (40), Geraint Morris (21) and Jack Jones (14).

Whitland lost a couple of early wickets to Jack Jones (1 for 36) and Robbie Jenkins (1 for 25) but Kevin Pearce (36 not out) and new recruit Will Spreadbury (28 not out) soon got going to complete an eight-wicket success.

Koomen kills off Lawrenny hopes

Lawrenny (122 all out) lost to Neyland (124 for 1) by 9 wickets

Umpires: Huw Davies & Tony Waldeis
Scorers: Malcolm Thomas & John Laugharne

Division One Reports 14th May 2016 A sparkling innings of 70 not out by Nick Koomen helped Neyland to an easy win at Lawrenny, who could only muster a modest 122 all out before the visitors strolled home in 24.1 overs.

Only James Buckle (35), Brad McDermott-Jenkins (24), Simon Cole (13) and Huw Griffiths (13) ever stayed a while but no-one was able to build a really big innings against the pace of Nathan Banner (3 for 37) and the canny slow stuff of teenager Geraint Rees (4 for 23) and Andrew Miller (2 for 21), assisted by Patrick Bellerby (1 for 32).

Neyland lost Gregg Miller for 14, bowled by Jamie Lewis (1 for 16) but Scott Jones (six boundaries in his unbeaten 31) joined Koomen in an unbroken stand of 103, with Koomen striking 10 fours in his typically forthright batting style to finish things off in style.

Steve Mills scored a superb century and took four wickets for Johnston

All-rounders Mills and Palmer feature at Glebelands

Johnston (243 for 9) tied with St Ishmaels (243 for 8)

Umpires: Denis Chiffi & Allan Hansen
Scorers: Natalie Thomas & Wendy Bradshaw

Johnston all-rounder Steve Mills produced one of his better performances at Glebelands against St Ishmaels but couldn’t quite take his team over the winning line despite scoring a century and grabbing four wickets as opposite number Andrew Palmer starred for Tish.

In a tense finish, Tish showed true grit in getting so near to such a mammoth score but could only muster one run and concede a run out from the final delivery as the teams finished all square.

Mills rapped 13 fours and four sixes, including one onto the clubhouse roof, and found a willing ally in Mikey Jones (56), Lee Summons (30), and Chris Fitzpatrick (19) against the Tish bowling of Johnny Pawlett (1 for 48), Andrew Pawlett (2 for 73) and Andrew Palmer (5 for 55, including three wickets and a run out in his final over!).

Palmer then led the Tish batting with a terrific innings of 83 (seven fours) whilst teenager Daniel Richards also looked a good batsman with 11 boundaries in his 60. Phil Cockburn (39) and Brennan Devonald (18) also batted well for Tish but couldn’t quite get over the line in that dramatic last-ball finish!
