There was real batting mayhem at Kingsmoor in the first round of the Harrison Bowl as second-division Kilgetty slammed Llanrhian, from division one, scoring a massive 242 for 1 and then restricting Llanrhian to 124 for 4.

It left local pundits scratching their heads about whether the winning margin of 118 runs was the biggest in the competition’s history – and the two batsmen who sent the ball flying to all parts of the ground were Ross Hardy and Kurtis Marsh, who batted throughout the innings until the final over, when Marsh was finally bowled by Rob Jones (1 for 36) and Toby Poole had to go in and scored 2 not out!

Huge hits flying everywhere!

Marsh had stroked nine fours and two sixes in his irrepressible innings of 75 but even that fine knock was eclipsed by the power hitting of Ross Hardy, who smashed an amazing 145 not out, 122 of them coming from boundary hits as he belted 14 fours and sent another 11 big hits flying over the boundary ropes.

To be fair to Llanrhian, they set about achieving a chase as they reached 53 without loss in five overs (Kilgetty had achieved just four more runs at that stage) thanks to some good batting by Paul Lewis (41) but with Toby Poole (2 for 28) and Harry Phillips (2 for 7) tying up the latter batsmen there was no possibility of maintaining the required run rate.

Rob Jones (39 not out) and Adrian Harries (12 not out) ensured a decent final score but it will be the batting of Messrs Hardy and Marsh that will long be talked about at Kingsmoor!
