Saundersfoot storm to easy win

Whitland 2nds (96 all out) lost to Saundersfoot (97 for 3) by 7 wickets

Umpires: Tony Waldeis and Bob Elliott
Scorers: Jenny Davies-Scourfield & Adge John

Saundersfoot stormed to an easy win against Whitland Seconds as they limited the home side to a disappointing total of 96 all out and then lost only three wickets in reaching their target in only 19 overs!

Put in to bat first, Whitland had their top scores from Paul Oeppen (23), Connor Bowen (12) and Steffan Lee (19 not out) as Saundersfoot fielded well in support of Toby Pappachan (4 for 7), Tom Mansbridge (2 for 32) and Neil Powling (2 for 3).

Saundersfoot skipper Sam Franklin led his team by example in the batting stakes as he shared in a half-century stand with Paul Mansbridge (24) and was still there at the finish with a boundary-sprinkled 52, despite the yeoman efforts of Connor Bowen (1 for 34), Gethin Benjamin (1 for 27) and Oscar Jones (1 for 7).

High scoring draw in local derby at Pill Parks

Llangwm (177 all out) drew with Burton (160 for 7)

Umpires: Huw Davies & Dave Bonner
Scorers: Janice Brick & Stuart Beresford

Near neighbours Llangwm and Burton shared a high-scoring draw at Pill Parks as the hosts reached 177 all out in 42.3 overs before Burton responded with a creditable 160 for 7.

Will Beresford was the top Llangwm score of 71; a classy innings which included 13 boundaries and a six – and he found support from Phil Llewelyn (46), Noah Davies and Joseph Kiff (both 19).

James Davies (2 for 43), Nick Jones (1 for 30), James Scale (1 for 15) and Luke Hayman (4 for 48 were the principle Burton bowlers.

Burton skipper Richard Jones (37), Hayman (45) and Will Ridge (20) all batted well but they were slightly behind the asking rate against Matthew Kiff (3 for 52), Noah Davies (2 for 18) and Phil Llewellyn (2 for 39) – and in the final analysis perhaps a draw was the fairest result on the day!

Scorer: Emma Richards (Narberth)

Experienced opening bat Ritchie Adams steered Narberth to victory at Carew as they successfully chased down the home team’s big total with 13 overs and eight wickets still in hand.

Carew had useful knocks as they reached 201 for 8 from James Hinchliffe (31), Scott Richards (40), Lewis Hicks (22) and Dai Rees (22) against the bowling of Lewis Davies (1 for 35), Ben Quartermaine (3 for 47), Owen Richards (1 for 23), Lewis Hough (1 for 17), Ben Hughes (1 for 38) and skipper Jordan Howell (1 for 28).

Adams then anchored the innings as he shared an opening stand of 55 with Aaron Keane (two sixes and six fours in his speedy 42), plus another of 76 with Kyle Quartermaine (33) before he ended up with 66 not out alongside new captain Howell (41 not out) as Dan Edwards (1 for 46) and Hinchliffe (1 for 68) were the only Carew wicket-takers.

Llechryd too strong with bat and ball

Llechryd (152 for 6) beat Llanrhian (73 all out) by 79 runs

Leighton O Connor took 3 for 14 for LlechrydUmpires: Neil Croucher & Paul Webb
Scorer: Will Newell (Llechryd)

Llechryd proved far too strong with both bat and ball against a Llanrhian side who didn’t bowl at top form and whose batting meant that, other than their top three scorers, the rest shared just seven runs!

Ollie Roberts maintained his good start to the season for the home side with a good knock of 51 alongside skipper Andrew Davies (18) and Llewellyn Ladd (34 not out) as Matthew Bennett (2 for 39) and Daf Williams (2 for 36) were the pick of the Llanrhian bowlers.

Paul Lewis and Ben Jones both scored 27 for Llanrhian whilst Rhodri Davies chipped in with 13 but the rest of their line-up floundered against Welsh veterans players Peter Betterley (4 for 19) in 12 overs and Leighton O’Connor (3 for 14) tore them apart.

Graham Keen supported with 1 for 35 as Llanrhian were still 79 runs adrift when their last man fell, giving Llechryd a deserved second win from as many starts on their return to Division Two!

Town Seconds win off penultimate ball

Stackpole (132 all out) lost to Haverfordwest 2nds (191 all out) by 59 runs

Umpires: John Williams & Jake Humbles

Veteran Nigel Morgan top scored with 64 for The Town SecondsA superb piece of fielding by Max Rodriguez helped Haverfordwest Seconds snatch victory at Stackpole with just two balls remaining as the home side risked a quick single in pursuit of an extra batting bonus point but, with just one stump to aim at he sent it flying and The Town Seconds edged home.

But it was veteran all-rounder Nigel Morgan who was the star of the show for the visitors as he top scored with 64 runs and then grabbed five wickets – good going for someone who has announced his retirement far more times than any pop star or actor but still produces the goods!

For Stackpole it was skipper Richard Mackay who led the bowling with a 5 for 41 alongside Lewys Gibby (2 for46) and there was solid batting by Iorrie Roberts and Hugh Davies (28 each), plus Rob Mathias (23) but Morgan soon had them on the back foot and was joined by Archie Thomas (2 for 14), Lewis Rhead (1 for 38) and Chris Phillips (1 for 31) in easing Haverfordwest to victory.
