Tom takes Tish to pieces

Carew (193 all out) beat St Ishmaels (74 all out) by 119 runs

Umpires: John Williams and Dave Bonner
Scorers: Julie Davies and Wendy Bradshaw

A virtuoso performance by Tom Davies saw Carew beat St Ishmaels easily as he lead the home batting with  eight fours and two big sixes in his top score of 83 and then grabbed five wickets to help put Tish to the sword.

Tom Davies was eventually caught by Brennan Devonald off Andrew Pawlett, assisted by cameos from Tom Scourfield (22), Brian Hall (21), Tim Hicks (15) and Nick Scourfield (15).

For Tish, the pace/spin duo of Andrew Palmer and Andrew Pawlett earned them respective figures of 4 for 55 and 4 for 49, with Daniel Flynn (1 for 34) as their other successful bowler.

When Tish batted only Johnny Pawlett (38) and Andrew Williams (10) managed to reach double figures as Tom Davies ended up with 5 for 29 and received support from talented teenager Iori Hicks (1 for 20) and leg spinner Ceri Brace (3 for 10) as Carew stay in contention at the top of the table.

Cresselly cruise to massive win

Cresselly (257 for 6 Dec after 40 overs) beat Pembroke (69 all out) by 208 runs

Umpires: Trefor Evans and Dai Morris
Scorer: Teagan Cartwright (Cresselly)

Iwan Izzard top scored with 91 for CressellyCresselly cruised to a massive win over a Pembroke outfit which was pummelled by the home batsmen and then shot out for a paltry score that left locals trying to recall a bigger league margin of victory at the ground.

Cresselly’s enormous batting power was very much in evidence as they sped to a massive 257 for 6 wickets before declaring after 40 overs, thus giving Pembroke the chance to use 50 overs to chase down that tally.

Destroyer in chief for the home side was Iwan Izzard, who struck 13 fours and a six before being caught on 91, whilst Phil Williams (20), Adam Chandler (37) and Alex Bailey (40) were joined by Dan Cherry (four fours and two sixes en route to an unbeaten 48) also batted well.

After tea, only Billy Wood (25) and Jack Harries (10) could muster double figures against Tom Arthur (2 for 16), Neil Gregory (1 for 19), Sion Jenkins (1 for 12, Ryan Lewis (1 for 10) and especially Simon Cole (4 for 6) – and Cresselly stay top of the table whilst their opponents remain firmly rooted at the bottom!

The Doc leads Haverfordwest to victory

Lawrenny (146 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (147 for 3) by 7 wickets

Umpires: Allan Hansen and Richard Merriman
Scorers: Chris Williams and Jayne Cole

Haverfordwest were good value for victory against Lawrenny as they successfully chased down the home club’s tally with seven wickets and overs aplenty in hand – and beating the approaching rain in the process.

Lawrenny started their innings quite well but talented teenage fast bowler Johnny White again caught the eye for Haverfordwest as his left-arm deliveries earned him fine figures of 5 for 22 alongside Adam James (2 for 58) and Kieran O’Connor (2 for 29).

As a result, there were useful scores for Rob Williams (22), Phil Cole (19), Simon Cole (29) and Matthew Lewis (24 not out) but no stand-out innings that might have given Lawrenny even more of a challenging total.

Simon Holliday again anchored The Town’s reply with 60 not out (six fours and two sixes), whilst Ben Field also batted really well for his 49 (two fours and four sixes) before he departed, leaving skipper Danny Potter to help ‘Doc’ Holliday steer their side to victory – and a move up to third place in the table as their reward.

Whitland bring Kilgetty down with a bump

Whitland (185 all out) beat Kilgetty (72 all out) by 113 runs

Scott Newton scored a splendid 63 for WhitlandUmpires: Steve Blowes and Denis Chiffi
Scorers: Ann-Marie Jenkins and Hazel Poole

After a successful return to the top echelon of local cricket Kilgetty were brought down to earth with a bump as they lost by 113 runs to give Whitland their first success of the campaign.

Put in to bat first, Whitland made a dire start as they lurched to 3 for 3 in three overs but good batting by Scott Newton (63) and Johnny Thomas (57) took them past the three-figure mark and saw them finish on a decent score in the circumstances of 185 all out as Dafydd Evans and Matthew Davies chipped in with 14 runs apiece.

Jack Parkinson led the Kilgetty attack with a creditable 5 for 27 spell and he found support from Anthony Bevan (3 for 33), Anthony Lewis (1 for 24) and Kyle Marsh (1 for 17).

But when they went in to bat Kilgetty had Jonny Harris (21) and Ian Poole (16) as their only batsmen who ever looked settled against Iestyn Scourfield (4 for 16), Ben Harvey (3 for 26) and Matthew Davies (3 for 19), leaving Kilgetty with a disappointing final tally and a first defeat of the season.

Interesting finish halted by weather

Johnston (188 for 8) v Neyland (103 for 4) – Match abandoned because of rain

Umpires: Tony Scourfield and Neil Croucher
Scorers: Delyth Summons and John Laugharne

There was an interesting finish in prospect at Glebelands but rain swept in to bring a halt to proceedings with both teams in with a chance of victory.

Dan Sutton recorded an undefeated century for the second week in succession but he was dropped before he reached double figures and made Neyland pay for his rare indiscretion as he reached his 50 out of the first 62 runs and batted throughout his teams’ 45 overs to finish with an excellent 110 not out that contained 15 boundaries.

Lee Summons (38) and Ross Dewstowe (12) were the only other Johnston batsmen to manage double figures against the Neyland bowling of Andrew Miller (4 for 42), Nathan Banner (2 for 45) and Geraint Rees (1 for 11).

When Neyland batted they received some early shocks as veteran bowler Richard James steamed in to claim 4 for 41 but Patrick Bellerby (12) steadied the ship a little and Andrew Miller completed a good all round personal performance with 36 not out alongside Henry Durrant (24 not out) before the weather unfortunately intervened.
