Llangwm’s left handers leather Llanrhian

Llangwm (164 for 2) beat Llanrhian (161 all out) by 8 wickets

Umpires: Richard Merriman and Bob Elliott
Scorer: Janice Brick (Llangwm)

Talented left handers William Beresford and Joseph Kiff ensured the section leaders made light work of bottom club Llanrhian at Pill Parks.

Chasing 162 to win in tricky batting conditions, the pair came together at 45 for 2, and then shared a rapid century stand as opener Beresford finished 55 not out whilst Kiff ended unbeaten on 77.

But earlier in the day it had been the visitors who had started well, as Ben D. Jones and Paul Lewis put on 40 for the opening wicket before the latter fell to Phil Llewellyn for 17 (two fours).

Jones went on to make a fine 75, with eight fours and two sixes before he was superbly caught in the deep by Joseph Kiff, but wickets tumbled at the other end and it was his namesake, Ben ‘RV’ Jones, who struck a late 30 not out (three sixes and a four) to help push his side to 161 all out in 42 overs.

For  Llangwm, spinner Llewellyn excelled with 4 for 15 in 12 overs, backed up by Noah Davies (1 for 40), skipper Ollie Davies (1 for 12), and Luke Brock (2 for 45).

Llanrhian made things difficult for the home side early in their reply, as Anthony Couzens (1 for 42) bowled Noah Davies (10), and Mathew Bennett skittled James Venables (16).

But it was then that Beresford and Kiff shared a century stand with some brutal hitting, with Beresford cracking eight fours and two sixes, and Kiff stroking five fours and five maximums as the pair saw their side home inside 21 overs!

Narberth battle back to take the honours

Burton (63 all out) lost to Narberth (88 all out) by 25 runs

Umpires: Huw Davies and Richard Scriven
Scorers: Dennis Venables and Emma Richards

There was a very low scoring game on a damp track at Oatfield Park where Narberth struggled to reach a less than satisfactory 88 all out but with Ben Quartermaine bowling terrifically well they shot out Burton for a paltry 63.

Put in to bat first, Narberth found it hard going as they lost ace run gatherers Richard Adams and Aaron Keane with only one run on the board and lurched to 26 for 5 against bowling brothers James (3 for 8) and Jack Davies (who eventually finished with 2 for 32).

Kyle Quartermaine batted well for his 38 before he eventually fell to the ageless Steve Jones and Ben Hughes chipped in with 23 but when they departed there were few scoring chances against Johnny Scale (2 for 12), Morgan Scale (2 for 5) and Nick Jones (1 for 12).

Ben Quartermaine steamed in to claim 6 for 24 as Narberth gained the ascendancy so that only Jack Davies (18) and Morgan Scale (23) managed double figures for Burton, with Davy Johns making a return to first-team action with 3 for 19 – and a run out just about completed the homesters’ woes as Narberth remain in contention at the top of the table.

Whitland win off the last ball!

Whitland 2nds (173 for 8) beat Haverfordwest 2nds (172 all out) by 2 wickets

Umpire: Simon Richards
Scorers: Jenny Davies-Scourfield and Kelly Williams

Dai Lee - 64 for Whitland 2ndsThere was a nerve-wracking finish at Spring Hill as talented teenager James Thomas faced the last ball of the game’s 90th over needing a single to steer Whitland to victory and he did just that to end up on a cracking 33 not out.

Batting first, Haverfordwest eventually managed to finish with a decent score of 172 all out thanks in the main to Paul Tough (46) and Josh Hicks (48), with support from Ashley James (28) and Dan Cole (12) – as Gethin Scourfield spear-headed the Whitland attack with excellent figures of 4 for 28.

He found useful support from Ben Harvey (1 for 34), Nathan Evans (1 for 20) and Martin Thomas (3 for 43) as the game was nicely poised at tea with the homesters needing 173 to win.

Dai Lee used his vast experience to good effect as he top scored with 64 (eight fours), supported by Paul Oeppen (26) and Nathan Evans (24) as Nigel Morgan (2 for 34), Clive Tucker (4 for 20) and Ashley James (1 for 45) took wickets for The Town – but in the end James Thomas was the home hero with that winning run!

Llechryd’s winning streak continues

Llechryd (108 for 6) beat Saundersfoot (107 all out)

Umpires: Dave Brandon and Tony Pasternak
Scorers: Will Newell/Andrew Davies and Adge John

Llechryd’s run of good form was maintained with this hard-fought success over Saundersfoot who, in the final analysis never gave up trying but just didn’t score enough runs after being asked to bat first.

Paul Mansbridge (40) Gareth Edwards (12), Steve Cook (14) and Sam Franklin (14) were the principal Saundersfoot batsman as Graham Keen caused them all sorts of problems in his superb 5 for 29 spell over 8.5 overs, ably assisted by James Henneker (2 for 19), Peter Betterley (1 for 28), Leighton O’Connor (1 for 18) and James Betterley (1 for 9).

Then Steve Smith (31), Dewi Davies (10) and O’Connor (22 not out) did enough to see Llechryd home, despite the efforts of the Saundersfoot bowlers.

Canton back with a bang for Stackpole

Stackpole (121 for 6) beat Carew 2nds (120 all out) by 4 wickets

Umpires: Neil Croucher and Robert Ridge

Sustained fast bowling by Anthony Canton proved a key factor in Stackpole’s home win over Carew Seconds as he marked his return to action with a terrific six for 24 haul.

It meant that Carew could only muster 120 all out as Dai Rees (34) and Ian Sefton, also back in action with 31, were the mainstays of their batting.

They knew they were still in with a chance however as James Hinchcliffe (3 for 34) and Harry Cook (3 for 44) bowled well but Josh Davies scored 38 to keep Stackpole on target before John Williams took them home with a typically robust 35 not out.
