Haverfordwest (105 for 8) (0) lost to The Nomads (130 for 6) (3) by 25 runs
The Nomads played really well to inflict defeat on front runners Haverfordwest on The Racecourse and at the time enhance their own prospects of a final appearance at their very first attempt.
Put in to bat The Nomads reached a challenging tally of 130 for 6 as Ollie Cook recalled his batting glories of yesteryear with 35 alongside Manu, who contributed top score of 40 before Will Randall finished things off with a late 24 not out.
Matthew Vaughan was again the top Town bowler with a 4 for 25 analysis alongside Richard Davies (2 for 30).
When Haverfordwest batted there were useful runs from Ashoka Senavirathna (22) and Graham Jenkins (17) but Gareth Morgan (2 for 33) and Andrew Ravenscroft (3 for 30) kept The Town batting behind the clock and earned The Nomads a key victory.
Neyland (108 for 9) (0) lost to Haverfordwest (109 for 1) (3) by 9 wickets
Haverfordwest bounced back with a comfortable win over Neyland despite a terrific unbeaten 67 from Jake Booth as they managed 108 for 9. He rapped ten boundaries in his innings but no-one else was able to last long against Matthew Vaughan (4 for 27) and Paul Jenkins miserly 2 for 13.
David Haynes then anchored The Town’s reply as he does so well, stroking seven fours in his 48 not out. Neil Crenshaw also chipped in with 29 before getting out with Haverfordwest well on the way to a nine-wicket win.
So The Town have become the first team which has completed its programme, with 14 points, and must now wait to see whether they qualify for yet another Ken Morris Final as The Nomads have 12 points with a game in hand – and others in with a lesser chance are Carew (8 points with two matches left), and Whitland (only four points but still three games adrift) before we know who are the 2019 finalists for this popular competition!
Cresselly (57 for 7) (0) lost to Carew (58 for 3) (3)
Put in to bat first, a relatively inexperienced Cresselly side crawled to 57 for 7 in their 20 overs as Carl Thomas was the pick of the Carew bowlers with figures of 4 for 12.
Cresselly’s top scorer was Richard Harris (16), who in October will be part of the England over 60’s squad to play test-match cricket in Australia, but no-one else was able to stay long enough to build a big total.
Megan Arthur (2 for 24) bowled well for Cresselly but 28 from Alex Wilkes helped Carew over the finishing line and kept alive their chances of another cup final appearance.
