Burton proved too strong for Haverfordwest 2nds as they picked up a thoroughly deserved 80- run victory at Oatfield Park.
 
Considering the heavy rain endured prior to this game the pitch was in fine condition, as it was expertly prepared by experienced groundsman Brian Griffiths.
 
Impressive county batsman Toby Hayman led the way for Burton with an excellent innings of 75, Town skipper Nigel Morgan dropped an early chance to get rid of the danger man, but Hayman settled at the crease and his knock included ten boundaries and a massive six.
 
Danny Dewstowe bowled superbly for the Town as he took (4 for 26), James Marchant claimed (2 for 46) plus there was a wicket each for Teo Kroll (1 for 25), Nigel Morgan (1-41) and teenager Will Phillips (1 for 21).
 
Jack Davies (19), Morgan Scale (15), Dan Ridge (15) and Matthew Davies all posted decent scores for the hosts whilst down the order batsman Matthew Webb struck a useful undefeated 25 as the innings closed on 190 all out.
 
After the break, the Town lost wickets at regular intervals thanks to Matthew Webb (4 for 23), Jack Davies (3-16) and Luke Hayman (2 for 16) all snapped up vital wickets for the triumphant hosts.
 
In-form Dewstowe was the Town’s top scorer with 24 but only Chris Phillips (16), Nigel Morgan (21), and Dean Flood (13 not out) made headway with the bat for the well-beaten visitors.

Jonathan Rogers starred with bat and ball for PembrokePembroke gained a deserved 125 run victory over derby rivals Lamphey at Treleet.
 
Pembroke batted first and once again Jonathan Rogers was in good form as he was the top scorer with 70; Luke Butler (29), Tom Kaijaks (20), Jack Harries (16), Paul White (12), and Jamie Kaijaks (20no) all played cameo roles.
 
The Stags’ bowlers found it tough as David Blackwell (1 for 13), Hywel Gibbs (1 for 36) and Peter McGilloway (1 for 42) chipped in with a wicket apiece whilst Sean Donohoe took 2-18 as the innings closed on 180 for 6.
 
It was the Pembroke bowlers who got on top as man of the moment Rogers (3 for 15) took the Stags batting line-up apart alongside George Davies, who was making his league debut and grabbed 4 for 8 in six overs. Rob Smythe (2 for 14) and Sam Davies (1 for 18) also had success and only skipper Rob Mathias (21) put up any resistance as the visitors slipped to a heavy defeat.

Rooks 2nds shine against battling Herbie

 

Carew 2nds (146 all out) beat Herbrandston (91 all out) by 55 runs

Carew 2nds were really good value for their 55-run victory at home against battling Herbrandston.
 
The Rooks’ second string opened the batting with Gareth Lewis (61, including four fours and three sixes) and Harry Cooke (31) who were both the pick of the batsmen.
 
Robert Hood (3 for 22), Jonty Bennett (2 for 36), Paul Nicholas (2 for 19) and Ashley Britton all bowled decently for the visitors who restricted the hosts to 146 all out.
 
Jonty Bennett (33) who had bowled well was the visitors’ top scorer, and Leigh Marchant (16) was the only other Herbie batsman to reach double figures.
 
Excellent bowling spells from George Waters (3 for 18), Jacob Knox (3 for 12) and Barry Evans (2 for 7) secured the all-important win for the Rooks.
 
 

Dock too hot for out of sorts Hook

It didn’t take long for league leaders Pembroke Dock to gain a comfortable nine-wicket win against out of sorts Hook at Imble Lane.
 
The visitors were first to bat and they never got going as terrific bowling spells by Ewan McDonald (3 for 18), George Smith (3 for 16) and Rob Hearne (3 for 5) all wreaked havoc for the home side.
 
Hook’s Craig Nutty (20) and Owen Phelps (12) were the only batsmen who looked comfortable at the crease, but they didn’t hang around long enough to trouble the Dock as the innings lasted 22.5 overs.
 
The Dock didn’t take long to get the required runs Jake Griffiths (41no in 20 balls, including eight fours and a six) and Scott Griffiths (11no) reach the total in only 8.5 overs.
