Toby Poole drives Danny Dewstowe

Poole powers makeshift Kilgetty to victory at The Racecourse

Haverfordwest 2nds (152 for 4) lost to Kilgetty (208 for 3) by 56 runs

Umpires: Colin Williams and Graham Jenkins
Scorers: Natalie Thomas and Rose Beynon.

Toby Poole and Jack Parkinson set Kilgetty up for a win at Haverfordwest with their powerful batting before their bowling restricted The Town to a solid 152 for 4.

Their win was all the more satisfying because they had lost a number of players who had travelled to Wembley to cheer on Liam Cullen – and making a welcome return to help out was 76 year old Brian Slate.

Poole struck 76 and Parkinson 67 not out as the visitors posted a total of 208 for 3 in their 40 overs, with Christian Phillips also adding 31 and Jack Badham 21 as veteran bowler Dean Flood led the bowling with 2-34.
To the credit of The Town, they didn’t lie down, and despite defeat managed full batting points as Dai ‘Dessie’ Haynes led the response with a measured 53 (three boundaries).

Ashoka Senavirathna also made 41 and there was defiance from captain Nigel Morgan (24 not out) and George Thomas (22 not out) – but the hosts fell 56 runs short as Brian Slate (1 for 18), Jack Parkinson (1 for 20), and Anthony Bevan (2 for 22) ensured the run rate was kept below what was needed.

Carew Seconds win well at Hook

Carew opener Scott RichardsHook (67 all out) lost to Carew 2nds (71 for 5) by 5 wickets

Umpires: Tony Walsh & Rob Bellerby
Scorer: Robert Hicks (Carew)

It was all over quickly at Hook as Carew captain Barry Evans bowled economically to help set up a simple run chase.

Evans took 3 for 8, while Jacob Knox also posted figures of 3 for 13, Ceri Waters 2 for 18 and Hayden Shapcott 1 for 8 as Hook succumbed to 67 all out – as only opener Craig Nutty (13),  Aled Phillips (10) and Lewis Miller (11) got starts.

It wasn’t all simple in Carew’s reply as they lost five wickets thanks to Matthew Holder taking 3 for 13 and Aled Phelps 2 for 15, but after Tom Scourfield made 22 it was Shapcott who made a vital 11 not out to help The Rooks over the line.

Hywel Gibbs took wickets for Lamphey

Eager Dock see off The Stags

Lamphey (76 all out) lost to Pembroke Dock (156 for 9) by 80 runs

Scorers: Helen Hodges & Nicola Murray

Pembroke Dock continue to fly in Division 2 as the bowling of George Smith saw them see off Lamphey with room to spare.

These local rivals have both come up from the third tier in recent times, but currently their respective form contrasts vastly with The Dock unbeaten and The Stags still awaiting a first win.

Opener Jake Griffiths made his usual fast start for the visitors as he hit 19 (three fours) in as many balls, but when he was bowled by David Blackwell it was Jake Davies and No 3 Scott Griffiths who took matters to 80 for 1 before the former was skittled by Hywel Gibbs for 38 (three fours).

Gibbs then went on to remove George Smith (1) and Nick Daley (4) as Lamphey fought back but Griffiths pushed on to make 41 (three fours) before he became the fourth ‘bowled’ batsman courtesy of Pete McGilloway.

After that things stalled, despite a measured 28 not out from Tom Grimwood, and the total of 156 for 9 looked par as Gibbs (3 for 19), McGilloway (2 for 18), Blackwell (3 for 23) and a run out represented a good home effort in the field.

But the reply faltered from the start as McGilloway (5) was LBW to Euan McDonald – as was A Tait (2) before Rob Hearn bowled Rob Mathias (5).

Then when Smith had Dean Lawrence (7) stumped by Griffiths the score read 27 for 4 and the game was effectively over.

Defiance did come in the form of Lewis Haines (19) and Nick Shelmerdine (23), who both hit a couple of boundaries each, but The Stags fell to 76 all out as the trio of Smith (4 for 22), Hearne (3 for 32) and McDonald (2 for 7) wreaked havoc – and Smith also notched a run out to wrap up a big derby win for The Dock.

Steve Inward on way to Llangwm hundred

Inward fires Llangwm to Pill Parks rout

Llangwm (298 for 6) beat Herbrandston (50 all out) by 248 runs

Scorer: Clarissa Lewis (Herbrandston)

The class of Steve Inward came to the fore as Division 2 favourites Llangwm routed Herbrandston.

Inward cracked 115 not out seven fours and five sixes) and was joined by Matthew Kiff, who smashed 95 (three fours and six sixes) before he was well caught by Jonty Bennett off Sam Birch, who claimed two wickets;  while Richard Brock (30) and Phil Llewellyn (29) also helped amass a massive 298 for 6 in 45 overs.

For Herbie, young Charlie Malloy (1 for 38) and Ashley Britton (also 1 for 38) bowled well in vain.

Steve Mills (4 for 8) and Ollie Davies (3 for 20) then made sure there was no miracle run chase and Joe Phillips (1 for 10) also chipped in, with Rob Kingston (10) the only away batsman in double figures on what was a sorry day for Herbie.

Hayman brothers boost Burton

Pembroke (87 all out) lost to Burton (190 for 3) by 103 runs

The Hayman brothers boosted Burton as they overcame Pembroke by 103 runs.

Opener Toby saw partner Jack Smythe (8) bowled by Rob Smythe (1 for 21) early on, but was unfazed as he went on to make 60 and found support from Morgan Scale (22) before the latter was skittled by Sam Davies.

Hayman reached 60 before holing out to Jonathan Rogers to give Davies 2 for 38 but his brother Luke then continued the momentum with 52 not out, and was joined by James Davies (36 not out) in helping post a big total.

And the hosts never looked like chasing it down, especially when they fell to 32 for 5.

Luke Butler made 21 and there was resistance down the order from Davies (17) and Phil Stephens (15), but Scale (3 for 10), Johnny Scale (2 for 16), Dan Ridge (1 for 18), Sam (2 for 12) and Jack Davies (1 for 11) ensured a 20-point win for the visitors.
