Cresselly keep up momentum

Cresselly 2nds (189 for 5) beat Laugharne (188 for 5) by 5 wickets

Neal Williams in the runs for The DovesCresselly made it back to back wins with a composed run chase against Laugharne.

The visitors racked up 188 for 5, but it wasn’t enough on a wicket that as per usual, played brilliantly for the batsmen.

Unsurprisingly, Laugharne chose to bat but lost opener Shane Lewis (0) when he was caught by Damien Arthur off Morgan Lewis.

Alan Carter hit 21 before being skittles by the same bowler, but at 35 for 2 came a stand of 69 between Craig Hurst and Callum Collins-Davies.

No 3 Hurst hit five fours and a six in his 44 but was bowled by Charlie Arthur, who removed Collins-Davies the same way after he hit 31 (three fours).

But James Devonald and new signing Rob Couzens added late impetus, Devonald hitting 35 not out (four fours) in 27 balls and Couzens also notching four boundaries to reach 36 before falling to home skipper Julian Arthur.

For The Doves, Arthur senior finished 1 for 20, son Charlie 2 for 29, and Lewis 2 for 23.
The run chase the focused around a series of useful contributions, with reliable opener Neal Williams making 47, Scott Arthur 40, Ollie Berry 30, Phil Williams 22 and Damien Arthur 19 not out to get his side over the line

For Laugharne, Couzens completed a useful debut with 1 for 22 and a run out, while Callum Davies took 1 for 37 and namesake Simon 1 for 42, but it couldn’t prevent Cresselly getting home by 5 wickets.

Hicks hits form as Johnston bounce back

Johnston (195 for 7) beat Neyland 2nds (90 for 9) by 105 runs

Josh Hicks smashed 84 for JohnstonJohnston bounced back in style from their Alan Brown Cup defeat in midweek as skipper Josh Hicks smashed 84 in their win over Neyland 2nds

Hicks’ knock included three fours and a huge seven sixes to lead his side to a formidable 195 for 6 in their 40 overs

Away skipper Paul Miller opted to field and had early reward when Johnston’s new recruit, Andrew ‘Ackie’ Harries, was bowled by Jamie Smith for 9.

Fellow opener Lee Walters made 28 before holing out to Gregg Miller off brother Paul’s bowling, who took a second catch to remove Chris Fitzpatrick after he’d made 33 (five fours) which gave Rodney Murphy a wicket.

That left matters at 111 for 3 and although Liam Boswell (2) and then another new signing in Robert Hood (4) both fell quickly to Aiden Rees, No 3 Hicks kept swinging and added 57 with Gary James (7) before in the final over Gregg Miller removed both in his 2 for 15.

Smith finished with 1 for 15, captain Miller 1 for 38, Rees 2 for 30 and Miller 1 for 10.
The away reply was in trouble early as Hammad Farooq removed Will Hughes (1), Lewis Page (1), and Gregg Miller (11) to take 3 for 14 in his seven overs - while Keegan Codd bowled Lewis Page (1) to leave Neyland 15 for 4.

Lyn Rees was defiant for his 9 in 57 balls and Paul Miller offered resistance with four fours in his 26 but further wickets to Harries (3 for 10 in six overs) and one each for Hood and Fitzpatrick ensured a comfortable win.

Reed and Jones keep leaders Llanrhian on track

St Ishmaels 2nds (131 for 7) lost to Llanrhian (132 for 3) by 7 wickets

Richard Reed - solid 46 for LlanrhianLlanrhian remain unbeaten this season after negotiating a potentially tricky run chase at Tish.

The home side made 131 for 7 in 40 overs, before Reed made 46 and Jones 41 not out as The Cows won by 7 wickets.

The Tish total owed much to Steve Williams who steadied matters after Jack Jones removed Darren Hawkins (8) and Kevin Bowen (10) early on in a spell of 2 for 11 in six overs.

But Williams went on to strike five fours and two sixes in his 63 not out, and with his side 95 for 7, was helped by the experienced Andrew Williams (15 not out) in pushing the home side to four batting bonus points.

For Llanrhian, other wickets fell to Tom Clarke (2 for 14), Christo Arundel (2 for 26) and a run out.

The reply started rapidly as Reed and captain Nigel Delaney reached 43 for 0, but then the latter was run out for 26 (two fours and two sixes).

Jack Jones was caught by Hawkins off Andrew Williams for a duck to give Tish hope, but Reed and Ben Jones shared 50 before the former was caught by Steve Hastings, again off Williams (2 for 37).

But Ben Jones stayed firm as he notched five boundaries and was joined by Paul Lewis (13 not out) in finishing the job.

A thrilling finish goes Llangwm’s way at Pill Parks

Llangwm (143 for 9) beat Narberth (137 all out) by 6 runs

Toby Asson - 4 for 27 for LlangwmOne of the best finishes of the day came at Pill Parks as the run chase of Narberth 2nds went down to the final ball before they fell short against Llangwm 2nds.

Chasing 144 to win, the visitors seemed to be cruising on 87 for 1 but then fell to 107 for 7 before reaching the last ball with one wicked in hand and six runs needed for a tie.

But skipper Richard Prout was dramatically caught on the boundary as the home side held on.

The Llangwm total was built up by Martyn Thomas (36), Shaun Waller (24), Jon Clout (22), and Mike Williams (16 not out) while Prout (2 for 21), Richard Howell (2 for 15), and Mike Reekie (3 for 29) kept things in check.

Narberth built well in their reply as Rob Nicholas (39) and Dave Jones (29) both looked good, but the subsequent collapse owed much to decent spells from Mike Williams (3 for 27), Toby Asson (3 for 26), and Callum Jenkins (3 for 23) as Llangwm eventually sealed a nervy win.
