Lee Summons - big runs for Johnston

Summons and Hicks hit Johnston to a big win at Glebelands

Johnston (234 for 6) beat Llanrhian (232 for 5) by 4 wickets

Josh Hicks - hard-hitting Johnston skipperIt was a run fest at Glebelands as Johnston pulled off a superb chase in their top of the table clash with Llanrhian.

After being put into bat, the visitors racked up 232 for 5, only for Lee Summons and Josh Hicks to hit half centuries in their side’s reply and set up a six wicket win with seven overs still to spare.

Home skipper Hicks won the toss and chose to bowl, and it seemed to pay dividends as Llanrhian fell to 12 for 2, Richard Reed being bowled by Hafiz Farooq and Jon Strawbridge reaching 11 before holing out to Leigh Walters off Robert Hood.

But then Jack Jones and Paul Lewis repaired the damage with a century stand, Jones cracking a host of boundaries in his 98 before being caught by Hicks off Gary James agonisingly short of a ton.

Lewis kept going to finish 82 not out while Nigel Delaney added 15 as Llanrhian posted 232 for 5, whilst Farooq finished 2 for 24, Hood 1 for 31, Keegan Codd 1 for 50, and James 1 for 24.

Johnston recover from nightmare start

Johnston’s reply had a nightmare start as Walters went first ball, caught by Lewis at slip after Dafydd Williams found the edge.

Harries hit 13 before being bowled by Jack Jones but then Summons and Hicks turned the tide with a stand of 115 as they punished anything loose.

Summons smashed nine fours and three sixes in his 73 before being caught by Tom Clarke off Jones, and Hicks hammered six fours and four sixes before falling lbw to Delaney for 65.

Those two wickets gave Llanrhian a sniff but Geno Cleal and Liam Boswell kept calm, Cleal hitting 25 (22 in boundaries) and Boswell making 51, with five fours and two sixes, before both fell late on to Chris Arundel.

But Gary James (4 not out) then joined Chris Fitzpatrick and finished matters with the winning boundary - sending The Tigers top of the table in the process.

For the visitors, Jones finished with 2 for 43, Delaney 1 for 32, Arundel 2 for 37, and Williams 1 for 37.

Arthur leads from the front as Cresselly cruise past The Town

Cresselly 2nds (90 for 0) beat Haverfordwest 3rds (88 all out) by 10 wickets

Julian Arthur - led Cresselly by exampleCresselly 2nds captain Julian Arthur made a successful return to action as he inspired his side to a quick win over Haverfordwest 3rds.

Arthur took two wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 88, and then cracked 57 not out with the bat as The Doves cruised home by 10 wickets.

David Haynes was resilient as ever for The Town as he made a patient 27, while Daniel Hopley top scored with 29.

But alongside Arthur, Josh Lewis continued his super form with the ball by taking 5 for 7, and Ollie Berry helped clean things up with 3 for 11.

And then Arthur was joined by Phil Williams (25 not out) in finishing the job as Cresselly cemented fourth spot to stay in touch in the promotion race.

Charles and Couzens do the damage for Laugharne

Llangwm 2nds (93 all out) lost to Laugharne (94 for 4) by 6 wickets

Laugharne pushed themselves right back into the promotion picture after a convincing win at Llangwm.

The home side, who began the day in the bottom two, opted to bat but were 96 all out as Gareth Charles and Rob Couzens wreaked havoc with figures of 4 for 22 and 4 for 26 respectively. Simon Davies also took 2 for 40 with Dom Asson (10) and brother Toby (12), plus Shaun Waller (12), the only top order batsmen to reach double figures.

It was No 9 Charlie Wilson who top scored though with 16 not out to take his side to three batting points.

It wasn’t all straightforward in the reply as Shane Williams (10) fell early to Callum Jenkins, and fellow opener Alan Carter reached 23 before being trapped leg before by Dom Asson.

Michael Williams also bowled well as he skittled Craig Hurst (33) and James Devonald (6) to take 2 for 17 in six overs – but the away side got over the line with room to spare as Couzens (12 not out) Davies (7 not out) sealed matters.

Davies on fire to set up a win for Stackpole

Bosherston and Stackpole (194 for 8) beat Neyland 2nds (162 for 6) by 32 runs

Josh Davies - more runs for StackpoleA sparkling knock of 77 from opener Josh Davies set Stackpole up for a win over Neyland 2nds in another clash where the runs scored defied the difficult conditions.

Davies had support from John Williams, who himself went on the attack to hit 40, as the hosts racked up 194 for 8.

For Neyland, Jamie Smith (3 for 53) and Tom Pritchard (2 for 32) were the best of the bowlers.

The visitors were never really up with the rate in their reply, but did at least pass the 150 mark for maximum batting points as they played out their 40 overs amidst tight spells from Simon Bevan (2 for 27) and Chris Gibbs (2 for 22).

That was mainly due to a knock of 66 from Welsh Disability international Callum Power, while there was also 29 from keeper Luke Ryan and Jamie Smith made a vital 28 not out to halt Stackpole’s push for more bowling points.

Williams and Hartley help Tish to a 20-point win

St Ishmaels 2nds (217 for 6) beat Narberth 2nds (130 all out) by 87 runs

Steve Hartley - big hitting for TishA knock of 80 not out from Steve Williams proved decisive as St Ishmaels 2nds notched a big win over Narberth 2nds.

Despite opener Darren Hawkins being trapped lbw by Richard Prout without scoring, Steve Hartley and No 3 Williams then punished the visitors.

Hartley smashed five fours and five sixes, meaning 50 of his 59 runs came in boundaries, before he was bowled by Mike Reekie.

Williams was more measured but still notched 11 fours to finish 80 not out, and Stuart Carpenter also helped push things on with 51 (seven fours) as Tish posted 217 for 6.
For Narberth, Prout finished with 1 for 48, Reekie and Rhodri Dyer both took 1 for 41, and there was a good four over stint from McKenzie McDonald as he took 3 for 23.

The away side’s top four then all got starts but crucially, failed to push on as Andrew Williams (14), Charlie Phillips (3), Dave Jones (12) and Jordan Howell (17) all fell.

No 5 Will Nicholas did get going to make 42 (five fours) but was eventually last man out as he gave a return catch to Carpenter.

By that point though, Ed Richards had dismantled the lower order with 5 for 41, while Josh Beer took 2 for 23, Kevin Bowen 1 for 16, and Carpenter 1 for 8 as Tish sealed an 87-run victory.
