Seventh heaven for Jack as Burton beat Carew

Burton (122 for 2) beat Carew 2nds (117 all out) by 8 wickets

Scorers: Janice Webb and Robert Hicks.

Jack Davies after his tremendous seven-wicket haulJack Davies bowled one of the spells of the Pembroke County Club season as his haul of 7 for 19 set Burton up to beat Carew.

Davies helped ensure The Rooks were all out for 117, a total that always looked short on a superb day for batting, and the home side then won with eight wickets in hand to move to just nine points off second placed Pembroke Dock.

Carew opted to bat but in the top order only Gareth Lewis with 42, and Haydn Shapcott with 28, properly got going in an opening stand of 76, while skipper Barry Evans chipped in with 12.

But thanks to Davies, wickets fell regularly, as Luke Hayman (1 for 13) and Dan Ridge (2 for 7) shared the other three wickets.

Opener Toby Hayman then led the reply with 60 (9 fours and two sixes), while Davies rounded off a great personal day with 43 (eight boundaries), as Aaron Hinman’s tidy spell (1 for 19) proved in vain for the visitors.

David Blackwell and Peter McGilloway take a deserved breather in their 150 stand for Lamphey

McGilloway moves The Stags closer to safety

Haverfordwest 2nds (184 for 7) lost to Lamphey (185 for 3)

Scorers: Natalie Thomas and Helen Hodges.

Lamphey took another big step towards survival in Division 2 thanks to a knock of 77 from Peter McGilloway.

Chasing 185 to win, the all-rounder struck 14 boundaries to set up a seven wicket win for his team, leaving them 31 points clear of the bottom two.

It was a much better showing from The Town than in recent weeks though, as 74 from No 3 Ashoka Senavirathna helped them to 184 for 7.

Senavirathna hit 11 fours before he was eventually run out but was backed up along the way from Ross Dewstowe, who hit four boundaries in his 23, and Richard Davies who made 20 (four fours).

For Lamphey, McGilloway took 2 for 20, Grant Cole 2 for 30, Phil Kidney 1 for 24, and David Dredge 1 for 48.

McGilloway and David Blackwell then made light of the chase though with an opening stand of 150, which ended when the former was eventually bowled by John Ebeneezer.

The same bowler then skittled Blackwell after he’d reached 64, with six fours and a six, as he took 2 for 27, and Andy Tait made a quick 18 (three fours) before he was bowled by Teo Kroll.

David Dredge (4 not out) finished the job though, with Hywel Gibbs 0 not out at the other end, as Lamphey reached the target inside 35 overs.

Phelps and Wicks help Hook pass Kilgetty

Kilgetty (143 all out) lost to Hook (147 for 5) by 5 wickets

Umpires: Gareth Brace and Ian Gow.
Scorer: Rose Jenkins (Kilgetty).

Hook now look safe in Division Two as they won well at Kilgetty – leaving the hosts deep in trouble in the process.
Aled Phelps - wickets and runs in Hook victory
Aled Phelps took 4 for 18 to help reduce the hosts to 143 all out, and then Jake Wicks hit 47 to set up a five wicket win.

Kilgetty did have good knocks from Jack Tucker (35), Richard Cope (32), and Toby Poole (21), but no one ever got away against Phelps, Callum James (2 for 34), Oscar Willington (2 for 25), and Chris Holder (1 for 22).

Alongside Wicks though, promising youngsters Oscar Willington (33) and Lewis Miller (28) both played well whilst Phelps chipped in with 19 – and it made a comfortable chase in only 29.2 overs for Hook despite wickets for Levi Hughes (3 for 52), Richard Cope (1 for 29), and Anthony Bevan (1 for 5).

Kiff keeps the momentum up for leaders Llangwm

Pembroke (170 all out) lost to Llangwm (226 for 5) by 56 runs

Scorers: Paul Francis and Janice Brick.

Joe Kiff - third century this season for LlangwmSteve Mills - runs and wickets for LlangwmThere was a ton for Joe Kiff as Llangwm opened up a 19 point lead at the top of the league with this win at Treleet.

Kiff smashed 101 in an opening stand of 170 with Steve Mills, who himself made 67 as the away side’s score of 226 for 5 proved too much for Pembroke.

Kiff cracked 10 fours and six sixes while Mills also looked destructive with eight fours and a maximum before both fell to Sam Davies.

The latter also removed namesake Ollie (2) cheaply in his 3 for 50 and George Davies took two 2 for 28 as he got rid of James Venables (2) and Luke Brock (14).

Joe Phillips stayed firm for 27 not out though (three fours), pushing Llangwm to a total that looked formidable, if not impossible, to chase after a good fight back by the home side.
But Pembroke fell to 55 for 4 before hopes were raised by a stand of 66 from Jack Harries and Andrew Price, who both made 42.

Harries hit five fours before Noah Davies took a vital catch of Callum Jenkins’ bowling and Price struck four fours and a six before Davies was again in the thick of it to clean bowl him.
There was also 14 not out from No 8 Steve Durston but by that point the game was done as Pembroke were all out in the 40th over; Davies finishing with 3 for 26, Mills 3 for 31, Phillips 2 for 18, Jenkins 1 for 37 and Brock 1 for 32.

Harry and Jack cause twin trouble for The Dock

Pembroke Dock (190 for 8) lost to Herbrandston (191 for 4) by 6 wickets

Scorers: Nicola Murray and Ryan Davies.

Jack Nicholas - undefeated 77 in big Herbie winThe wheels continue to loosen on Pembroke Dock’s tilt at promotion as they lost a third straight league game – this time courtesy of a great chase from Herbrandston.

The Dock’s total of 190 for 8 never looked better than par at Imble Lane, and so it proved as Jack Nicholas hit 77 not out to lead Herbie to victory.

The Dock opted to bat but fell to 40 for 3 before a century stand from George Smith and Scott Griffiths.

Griffiths stroked four fours and a six in his 43 before being bowled by Ashley Britton and Smith reached 49 (six fours), before holing out to Ali Ouzman off Dean John.

Billy Wood hit 16 and Archie Hillier-Wood and Jamie White both finished 13 not out as Herbie kept thing in check with Britton taking 1 for 29, Charlie Malloy 1 for 35, John 3 for 49, and Kristan Bennett superb in his 3 for 19 off nine overs.

Jonty Bennett (27) and Harry Nicholas then started well as the pair opened the Herbie reply, Bennett making 27 (four fours) before nicking behind to Griffiths off Wood (1 for 22).

No 3 Charlie Malloy (2) was LBW to Smith (1 for 35) and as usual, Leigh Marchant didn’t hang about as he cracked 29 in 19 balls, 22 of which came in boundaries, before being well caught by Wood off Rob Hearn (1 for 33).

But at 75 for 3, it was the twins who steadied the ship with opener Harry making a patient 40 (four boundaries) off 93 balls - and by the time he was caught by Tom Grimwood off Jamie White (1 for 25) – the duo had put on 99.

Jack kept going as he amassed nine fours and three sixes, joined by Kristan Bennett (1 not out) as Herbie got the job done in the 41st over.
