Tata Steel 0 – Haverfordwest County 8
Steffan Williams led Haverfordwest County’s brilliant eight-goal rush with a superb hat trick in the visitors’ emphatic victory over second from bottom Tata Steel on Tuesday night.
The last time these two sides met was back in February when the Bluebirds won 4-1 at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.
The visitors led 5-0 at half time and added a further three goals without reply in the second period.
Goals galore
Grabbing the goals for the visitors was Williams with a treble, a brace from Ritchie Lewis also one apiece for Lee Bevan, Rob Morgans and an own goal completed the rout.
The Bluebirds dominated from the first whistle until the last and the Port Talbot outfit did trouble Bluebirds’ goalkeeper Peter Blain with a single shot.
Lee Bevan got the night off to a perfect start, as the centre back flicked his shot home from close range as early as the seventh minute.
The second goal came in the 15th minute, Williams and Jack Christopher set-up Lewis whose shot took a wicked deflection for an own goal.
Cracking goal
The best goal of the evening came in the 23rd minute as Williams rifled his shot in the top corner following Christopher’s intelligent assist.
Lewis bagged the fourth in the 30th minute, again Williams finding the target on the stroke of half time.
On the hour mark and Williams made no mistake with the goal number six and gave the wide sided midfielder his deserved treble.
Substitute Rob Morgans had only been on the park ten minutes before slotting in the seventh and Lewis added a straight forward eighth five minutes from the end.
Haverfordwest County manager Mike Ellis said shortly after the final whistle, “Yes, they were poor. But it’s nice to score a few goals and build up our confidence after some difficult games.”
