Once again heavy rain decimated the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division games and West Wales Intermediate Cup clashes were postponed on Saturday.Only one game went ahead in the first division, bottom of the table Carew lost 0-2 at home against Goodwick United.
Second placed Goodwick United took the opportunity to close the gap at the top to within a point of leaders West Dragons.
Conditions were tricky for teams, a heavy pitch, and gale force winds played their part, as it stayed goalless at half time.
Midway through the second half the visitors broke the deadlock when midfielder Adam Raymond struck with a stinging volley.
Just before full time and the Phoenix Lads added a second goal, Johnny Horgan tucking the ball underneath Carew goalkeeper Dan James to secure the points.
In the West Wales Intermediate Cup – Third Round, Neyland v Malsters Sports was postponed just before kick-of, whilst Gorseinon Athletic v Hakin United and Pontarddulais Town v Merlins Bridge were both casualties of the dreadful weather.
