League Council Chairman Ceri Morgan presents silverware to Hakin skipper Jonathan FawcettTwo goals apiece by Thomas Evans and Leon Davies secured cup glory for Hakin 2nds against Monkton Swifts 2nds at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium on Wednesday night.
 
Hakin United 2nds won both the league matches against Monkton Swifts 2nds this season, the latter 2-1, at Monkton Lane.
 
This sweet win gave Hakin United 2nds’ the league and cup double much to the delight of their proud manager Matthew ‘Trig’ Howells
 
Thomas Evans bagged the only goal of the first half, shortly after the break Josh Richards equalised before Leon Davies restored the Vikings’ lead from the spot,  five minutes later he scored his second with a sublime chip for the third. Evans added the fourth and substitute James Trueman drilled home the fifth.
 
Monkton and Hakin compete for ballThe Swifts had an early chance disallowed for offside, minutes later at the other end Leon Davies flashed a shot wide from the edge of the 18 yard box.
 
Vikings’ skipper Jonathan Fawcett conceded a foul just outside the box, from the resultant free kick Jordan Kilby struck his effort way over the crossbar.
 
Rudy Poole made a dangerous dribble down the right, his cross in the box was headed behind for a corner by the solid Jonathan Fawcett.
 
Just before the break the Vikings broke the deadlock when Hayden Dimond’s by-line shot cum cross from the right fell to Thomas Evans who made no mistake at the far post.
 
The Swifts were rewarded four minutes after the break when the pressure told as Josh Richards found the back of the net.
 
In the 54th minute the Vikings were awarded a stonewall penalty which Davies struck into the top corner of keeper Jordan Boswell’s net.
 
Just before the hour mark Davies bagged his second of the match as he cleverly chipped Boswell for the third, in the 72nd minute Evans was on target with also his second goal of the final for the Vikings’ fourth plus James Trueman came off the bench to score his side’s fifth.
