Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Football - Tom Yeoman Shield:

County share the spoils against Aber

Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Under 11's Football Squad continued their 2012-13 campaign at Haverfordwest County AFC by sharing the points over four matches against Aberystwyth Schools.

County A teamPembrokeshire A 0 - Aberystwyth A 0

Pembs started off well, but failed to convert any chances. Osian Hill and Jacob Hipkiss both broke through at times only to be thwarted by the Aber keeper, whilst at the other end Dylan Noot was also kept busy. Thomas Davies had an outstanding game in defence and was ably assisted by Rhys Morgan and Joshua Hardman.  Darren Gibson and Kian Lee ran well on the flanks and played in plenty of ball. In the second half Aber attacked strongly but the defence held firm. Nieve Jenkins and Nathan Froment added strength in depth, but in the end a draw was perhaps the fairest result.

In their second match Pembs played some better football, but still that goal eluded them. Hardman played up front to add attacking strength but Aber defended well. Froment did some sterling work on the right but chances went begging at one end and at the other Davies and Morgan dominated the defence.  Once again a 0-0 draw.

County B teamPembs started off quickly and dominated the first ten minutes - and should have scored several goals.  Tom Wright and Joshua Williams went close on several occasions before Aber counter-attacked and scored a good goal. Rhys Grigg played really well in the Pembs goal and had plenty to do despite the sterling defence of James Gardner, Tate Lawrence and Joseph Griffiths.  Joe Pritchard and Seamus Drake combined well in midfield with some crisp passing, but failure to convert early on cost Pembs dearly.

Pembs B 4 - Aberystwyth A 1

Aber scored first, but Pembs quickly pulled a goal back with a stunning long shot by Torin Nicolson. Drake scored the second and Pembs began to dominate the game.  Gardner put in a man of the match display in defence while Jaden Chapman scored twice in quick succession to put the game out of Aber's reach.
