Young Ambassadors:
Molly makes the most of her role as Gold Ambassador
Tasker Milward School is lucky to have some excellent Gold and Silver Young Ambassadors and one of those people who has served them well in both capacities is Molly Brick.
She is a very keen netball player at the school and also enjoys hockey and rounders – but firmly believes that there is a sport or leisure pastime for every student in school and to that end attends school assemblies and chats to non-participants about the range of new activities on offer in school lunch times or after school ends for the day.
She helps out with girl' cricket after school and has already passed her coaching and refereeing badges in netball, under the watchful eye of Alice Watts, so that she can put both to good use as she has worked with 5x60 officer Natalie Jones and now with Romilly Colville whilst Natalie is off on maternity leave.
Busy time promoting the 'Olympic Legacy'
She was also very busy on the day that the Olympic Torch was carried through Haverfordwest, helping out with the range of sport on offer for youngsters to try out – and doubling up with her other interest as she plated alto saxophone in the Pembrokeshire School's Big Band during the procession before that!
Not content with that little lot, Molly was also involved during the 'Olympic Days' in school, promoting the idea of the 'Olympic Legacy' – and took part in the Year Six Induction Days for the new entrants from the Tasker's feeder schools.
Molly enjoys her own participation
Molly set out on her own netball playing when she was a pupil at Burton School and joined the 'Chaos Club' at The Dome in Haverfordwest. She has played ever since and in her position as goal shooter recently joined her school team-mates in a 40-5 win over Fishguard where she scored just over half the team's points. She was also recently part of a school netball team that enjoyed a tour to Jersey, playing against very strong and experienced teams but playing well in both their matches.
Total support for her role
Ask Molly about support and she would be quick to praise her parents, Diane and Steve Brick for their help, alongside her grandparents, Dennis and Jill Stolliday, who are heavily involved at Neyland RFC. She set out in her role as Silver Young Ambassador after being nominated by her games teacher, Mrs Jones, and quickly took to the role. At that time only Callum Morgan and Stephanie Harries were Gold Ambassadors but when Sport Pembrokeshire decided to double the number to four for the following year, Molly applied for the role and was delighted to be short-listed, attend the interview and be offered the role!
Still busy
And since then Molly has been kept busy in her role and is adamant that everyone should get involved because there is a sport or leisure activity for all. One only has to talk to her for a short while to see how committed she is and we wish Molly Brick continued success in promoting sport so well with the young people at Tasker Milward School!
