Recently Neyland Junior Cricket donated cricket kit and equipment to young disadvantaged and underprivileged people who live over 6,000 miles away in Nairobi, Kenya.
Pictured is Jim Bowen (a past member of Kenya Kongonis CC), who supports the work of David Waters M.B.E, who recently met Hugh Morris (Chief Executive and Director of Cricket at Glamorgan Cricket Club), with the hope of setting up a new partnership.
The foundation originated in Nairobi in 2013 and with 12 full time Level Two coaches, delivers cricket coaching to 4000 children in 16 slum schools on a weekly basis.
Incredible impact
The pilot project is in its second year and has already had an incredible impact on the children involved, by enhancing their social and community lives, through being part of a team and learning the game of cricket.
The equipment donated will be shipped to Kenya and the young players, pictured below, were only too pleased to make a contribution to a worthy cause.
