Beat the Expert - Week 4 : fixtures for 23rd March 2013

It's VERY Close with a week to go!

Micky PhillipsWith only a weekend to go The Expert has a single-point lead over 'Stats Man' Micky Phillips and has really got a bee in his bonnet after last weekend's results, when our resident Mr Grumpy thought Micky had drawn level.

But when he later double-checked the scores he had mistakenly given Mickey one point in error –and was outraged.

“He is the Stats Man and should have noticed my faux pas so I wonder if he was not noticing it on purpose. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because I have always known him as a gentleman of sport!”

“I don't check the scores because I know it's done by The Expert,” retorted Micky, “and he knows deep down that I wouldn't cheat. Perhaps this is a ploy on his part to unsettle me, but it won't work!

He's right when he said I spend ages poring over the possible permutations but it worked last year and I'm still hopeful it will work again this weekend. Either way, I have enjoyed our bit of fun!"

“I even showed the Stats man how sporting I am by offering to show him my forecasts before he made his own,” said The Expert, “but he turned me down. That showed him I have no fear and on Saturday evening he will be the proud owner of an 'I Almost Beat the Expert' tee-shirt.

He had better treasure it – and not garden in it like his last one – because my moles are always about!”

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!”

Stats Man's Forecasts:

Division One:

Goodwick United 3 - Saundersfoot Sports 1
Goodwick made it five wins in a row last week and on this form are serious contenders for the runners-up spot so I'll go for a home win.

Hakin United 3 - Narberth 2
This is the longest running fixture in Pembrokeshire football dating back 62 years with the first fixture being on 17/9/49 when Hakin won 3-2. I would expect another very close  encounter with Narberth on a nine match unbeaten run whilst Hakin's run extends to an impressive 18. I'll go for a repeat of the 1949 score-line but with different  scorers!

Merlins Bridge 3 - Hundleton 1
Hundleton need three points from somewhere to pull themselves out of the one relegation place though I can't see them coming on the Racecourse and will predict a
home win.

Solva 1 - Johnston 5
Two of my old sides but I can only see one winner here especially as Solva have leaked 27 goals in their last four games and Johnston are averaging nearly three goals a game.

St Ishmaels 2  - Monkton Swifts 3
Tish won the reverse fixture 3-2 though their home form has been unusually poor this year and I can see the Swifts getting revenge for their defeat back in September.

Tenby 2 - Pennar Robins 1
Tenby won at Bush Camp last month and despite having lost their first seven games of the season have now had only one defeat in nine and as a result I'll predict a home win.
