Beat the Expert - Week 4 : fixtures for 26th January 2013

Tansey loses out again to The Expert

The Expert managed to hold onto his slender one point advantage as the pair finished 3-3 after the final week of predictions and the overall margin was 17-16. The Expert has never lost against Chris Tansey, again he showed his superior football knowledge gave him just the edge.

"Unlucky Mr Tansey," said The Expert. "I have the utmost respect for Chris, he's a gentleman and a scholar, more than what I can say for his so called pansy mate."

Tansey's a crucial point behind on run-in!

Chris TanseyChris Tansey, the popular former manager of Hakin United and boss at Pembrokeshire League sponsors Manderwood's, goes into the last week of his tipping duel with The Expert just one point adrift and growing in confidence by the minute.

“In the past I have shown him too much respect but I think he's under pressure, especially after losing to Matthew (Price) and Daisy (Picton).
“Daisy has advised me to increase the pressure by insisting that The Expert make his predictions first. I don't know why but Daisy thinks that might help me.
“I have studied form and I am confident that I have done my best – so let's see what the weekend brings!”

The Expert had previously praised his old adversary but was less than happy about veiled suggestions that he had perhaps manipulated things in the past.
“I thought this was just a bit of fun, according to these two Hakin reprobates but the gloves are on now. I phoned my forecasts through to the editor without too much deliberation because I know that my bank of footballing know-how is so much greater than his.
“So no problem – I'm just looking forward to seeing his face when the scores come up on Saturday evening – the 'I Almost Beat the Expert!' tee shirt is ready and waiting for Mr Tansey!”

It could be a close call – and all will be revealed on Saturday evening at about 6pm!

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!”

Tansey's Forecasts:

Division One:

Hakin United 2 - Monkton Swifts 0
Both teams are capable of high scoring but I have a feeling that Hakin will be looking to get their defence sorted and try to score on the break – so I've gone for a low-scoring Vikings' win

Merlins Bridge 2 - Johnston 3
Another match where both sides can score plenty of goals – and the Bridge might start as favourites on their home patch and with all the excitement of a new manager. But my heart says that Johnston are the form team so I was going for a draw but decided on a narrow away win!

Saundersfoot Sports 3 - Neyland 0
Two useful teams but I think Saundersfoot might just have that vital edge so I'll go for a fairly comfortable home win.

Solva 2 - Hundleton 1
I like to think that Solva have a win in them this season because they are a good crowd of lads – and I think that this might be that very week in a close-fought tussle.

St Ishmaels 2 - Narberth 1
Tish need the points badly and I think that might just tip the scales in their favour, with Robbie Thomas urging them on.

Tenby 1 - Goodwick United 3
Tenby have really struggled this season and so I have to go for a Goodwick win by at least two goals.
