Beat the Expert - Week 1 : fixtures for 24th November 2012

Weather saves Tulip's bacon claims the annoyed Expert

The Expert was annoyed that the weather spoilt what he felt was going to be an easy win against Petunia Picton. "The weather saved his bacon!" claimed The Expert. Only one game was completed and both predicted St Ishmaels would win at Solva, but neither got the correct score line as the first round finished all square at 1-1.

"All I pray for is some good weather next week, then I will put that Rose Picton in his place, or is his name Daffodil, Pansy. Don't care what his name is but I do know that the little old man from Hakin is only a small flower, and judging by his age he should have gone to seed years ago!"

'Tulip' takes on The Expert

Daisy Picton who is some flower! After his defeat by Matthew 'Priceless' Price it seems that The Expert is fully geared up for a repeat challenge from David 'Daisy' Picton and is eager to prove that he hasn't lost the tipping prowess that has always made him hard to beat.
“I lose about one challenge a season and I under-estimated Mr Price after beating him the time before, but I still wonder if he was having help – although I will cough up for an 'I Beat the Expert' tee-shirt!

When asked if he would present the tee-shirt to Matthew his answer was to the point, as usual.
“Not a chance,” he replied, “someone else can have that dubious privilege!”

“I've got to focus now on this 'Flower Power' individual they call 'Tulip' from Hakin because I would hate losing to him more than anyone else – he's so full of his imagined ability as a pundit.”

When we pointed out to our resident 'Mr Grumpy' that his opponent's nickname was 'Daisy' and not 'Tulip' he snorted,
“Daisy, Tulip, Petunia or Rose – it's all the same to me because I aim to cut him off at the stem before he has any chance to bloom.”

Mr Picton said,
“I wish him every luck – because he is going to need it!”

Looks like it is going to be a lively four weeks!

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!”

Tulip's Forecasts:

Division One:

Johnston 2 - Merlins Bridge 2
These are two good teams and it will suit us if they have a point apiece!

Narberth 2 - Hakin United 4
Narberth are a good side as well but I think we can outscore them with our fire-power up front.

Neyland 1 - Pennar Robins 3
Neyland at home are a danger to any side but the Robins might just snatch this verdict.

Saundersfoot 2 - Goodwick United 3
Saundersfoot started well and could start as favourites but I'll go for a narrow away win.

Solva 1 - St Ishmaels 3
Both teams need the points but I believe Tish will be too strong for Solva.

Tenby 3 - Hundleton 1
Tenby have found a bit of form whilst Hundleton are struggling so I'll go for a home win.

Division Two:

West Dragons 3 - Angle 1
This should be quite a battle between the top two sides but I think West Dragons will win, especially since they are playing at home.

Clarbeston Road 3 - Kilgetty 2
Another vital game at the upper end of the table and it is Clarbie for me in this one.
