Beat the Expert - Week 3: fixtures for 16th February 2013

Watson is beaten again by The Expert

The Expert has put Mr Watson under pressure after comfortably beating him 5-3 this week and taking an overall 10-7 lead going into their fourth and final week of predictions. The Expert predicted one right score line and also tipped Pennar Robins to beat Monkton in their derby clash, those two results swung the balance in The Expert's favour. "What do you expect from a rugby player," sniggered The Expert. "He's got a lot to learn and I don't expect him to beat me now."

Fraser finds it hard going!

Fraser Watson Fraser Watson found it hard going for the second week in succession as bad weather limited the number of games to just three – and he drew with The Expert to stay just a point adrift at the half-way stage.

“I see that the Newspaper Boy went against his club last week and they won,” grumbled our resident tipster, “and although I made the same mistake at least it wasn't my club.
“I bet he'll tip them again to lose this week in the hope they will win but they haven't got much of a chance so he could actually get that score right!”

“I have taken great care with my predictions this week,” admitted young Watson, “and I have had a word with Daisy Picton about making sure there is fair play in this contest, so The Expert had better watch out because I have the former winner on my side!”

Now this really brought a snort of derision from our own 'Mr Grumpy.
“Flower Power Picton! I let him beat me just to stop him whingeing! I have already ordered the Newspaper Boy's medium-sized 'I Almost Beat the Expert' tee shirt and the way that he started I might have to ask them to remove the 'almost' from it because it will have to say 'I Was Smashed by the Expert!'”

So will the 'Newspaper Boy' beat 'The Expert'? We shall see on Saturday evening!
Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!”

Fraser's Forecasts:

Division One:

Goodwick United 3 -  Hundleton 0
Hundleton are bottom now and really need wins but I can't see one for them at Phoenix Park.

Merlins Bridge 3 - Solva 1
For the third week in a row I hope I'm wrong about Solva (and was delighted they cost me a prediction last week). But at home the Bridge would have to start clear favourites.

Narberth 4 - Neyland 1
Narberth are capable of a top three finish now and Neyland are not in good form. Again I'll go for the home side.

Saundersfoot Sports 2 - Hakin United 4
Saundersfoot pushed Hakin all the way at The Obs and will provide a tough test here. But if Hakin's recent rampant league form continues, they will take the points.

Pennar Robins 1 - Monkton Swifts 2
Both teams have been in indifferent form of late, and both suffered disappointing defeats last week. I'll go for Monkton to sneak it.

St Ishmaels 1 - Tenby 1
Tenby are picking up form now but Tish are a difficult team to beat, especially at home. The only draw I've predicted so far cost me in week one so hopefully lightning won't strike twice here.

West Wales Cup:

Johnston 1- Kilvey Fords 3
This tie was originally scheduled for two weeks ago and I tipped Johnston, but having seen Bridge and Hakin hammered maybe I underestimated the calibre of teams from other leagues! I hope the Tigers prove me wrong but I'm going to change my mind this time around.
