Beat the Expert - Week 2 : fixtures for 9th February 2013
Watson picks up a draw with The Expert
Fraser Watson drew 2-2 with The Expert, but he is still trailing 5-4 overall with two weeks of predictions still to go.
There were only three games completed with the rest postponed due to waterlogged pitches. Solva gained a surprise 3-0 victory at home against Pennar Robins and Mr Watson, who is a Solva player predicted they would lose, possibly because he was not playing, but he is sure to get some ribbing in the Solva dressing room the next time he meets up with his teammates.
"The weather stopped me opening up a decent lead," said The Expert. "Fancy not backing your own team and listening to his boss and so called sports editor Gordon Thomas, he played rugby, and he knows nothing about football. Let that be a lesson to you - and a word of advice next time Mr Watson follow your heart and not your head. Then you may have a chance of beating me. But I can't see it!"It's certainly not elementary, Mr Watson!
Fraser Watson's hopes of making a strong start in his campaign to join the relatively few footballing pundits who have beaten The Expert came to a stumbling stop as he scored relatively few points – but fortunately for him our resident 'Mr Grumpy' was also off colour.
“Some of the West Wales results went against us both but in most cases I was closer to the final scoreline,†said our ace tipster, “and I bet that young upstart from St Davids has realised that scoring a couple of jammy goals for Solva doesn't put him in my bracket. He played again for them on Saturday – and I see they were stuffed 6-0 at home to Narberth!
“Perhaps he ought to stick to playing rugby for Whitland, to save himself a bit of embarrassment. I have already ordered his medium-sized 'I Almost Beat The Expert' tee shirt and the way that he started I might have to ask them to remove the 'almost' from it!
Editor's Note: When The Expert calls Fraser the 'Newspaper Boy' I think he believes that Mr Watson delivers papers, rather than writes in them, because he looks so young! We don't like to correct him!!
Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!â€

Watson's Forecasts:
Division One:
Goodwick United 2 - Saundersfoot Sports 1
This should be tight. Saundersfoot have pulled off some great results this season but I think Goodwick may nick this one at Phoenix ParkHakin United 4 - St Ishmaels 1
Tish have nothing to lose and will battle hard. But although Hakin were well beaten by Seaside last week, their recent league form suggests they should win with room to spare here.Merlins Bridge 4 - Neyland 1
The Nomads have now lost seven league games in a row and I can't see them arresting the slide at The Racecourse. The Bridge need to win to keep their title hopes alive and I think they will.Monkton Swifts 2 Johnston 4
Monkton have been up and down of late and are hard to predict! With games in hand, Johnston are not out of the title race and I think they will edge this one.Solva 1 - Pennar Robins 2
I've taken advice off my work colleague Gordon Thomas for this one so that my heart doesn't rule my head!Tenby 4 - Hundleton 0
Tenby could take a massive step towards safety and after their great win at Pennar last week, I expect them to continue that momentum on Saturday.
